Crops are out so the two of use went out to one of our favorite stomping grounds.
Found this mushroom crossing the field to get to the woods.

The neighbor still had cattle roaming which meant the fences were hot so we had to stay to the south half this time.

Didn't feel like fighting the underbrush so we stay along the edge.

He's named Hoover for a reason

Notice the white colored tree up ahead. When we got there something really spooked him.

Not quite a two foot circle he just would not go into. Slowly go up to it then quickly step back. There was a small spot clear of leaves with a paw print but I missed it in the frame. I cleared the leaves thinking snake maybe but nothing. At least nothing that I could see but he knew something was there maybe just a scent I don't know.
We kept going enjoying the day and I just grabbed some shots from the edge looking in. Here's a couple

Not paying close attention just looking for shots I suddenly heard a snort when a six pointer turned and bolted no more than ten feet away. I'm sure glad he decided to run rather than attack cause he had me cold. Can't believe I got so close. I do want to go back when it's cold to check out if this is a growth or a bee's nest.

Well that's enough I guess probably familiar but always something new out there
