So why did Kwanzaa fail? I wondered about that. It's not really a bad thing. It was supposed to be something like Thanksgiving, a created holiday that was supposed to mimic African harvest festivals to give folks something else to celebrate. Personally I don't mind excuses for family get togethers and banquets and gift exchanges (as long as they don't formally create a new federal holiday for it). But there just was no groundswell of support or desire for it.

I always figured the biggest reason is that MOST black Americans don't care about it. It was a solution in search of a problem. White Liberals gushed all over the prospect of a 'black' cultural holiday (and it was intentionally designed like Hanukah, with the candles and gift exchanges). But the vast majority of Black Americans are CHRISTIANS, so they celebrate Christmas. I don't know of a single black person who celebrates Kwanzaa.

Again, another one of those politically correct things for white liberals to make themselves feel good about themselves and pat themselves on the back for their 'cultural inclusiveness' ;)
