I refinished the shitty Russian finish on my new 91/30. New finish consisted of 4 coats of a mixture of RIT dye and BLO.
The scope mount was made by me with materials on hand. The bolt handle (which I made from an AK piston shaft) just clears the mount. I am in the process of getting materials and low Weaver mounts together to make the upper part thinner so the scope height will be reduced considerably.
I'm having to raise my head slightly to acquire the proper height. I have removed the scope from the mount, and the mount from the rifle several times, and every time, the scope returned to zero. (bore sighted) Surprised the shit out of me.
A trip to the range is coming soon.
