Here is my new TTC. It has matching SNs, except for the magazine. Manufactured in 1953. No rust and the barrel looks really good. There was a lot of oil on it but not the thick cosmoline that I have gotten on other milsurplus guns. The magazine, on the other hand, while it didn't have a lot definitely had the thick preservative grease applied to it. I am hoping to be able to shoot it this in the next couple of weeks.

How easy are magazines to obtain?

I ordered two after the order was approved for the pistol without any difficulty. There were about $20 each and came with much more cosmoline!

Nice! I do wish they could come in sans crappy safety...

Yeah, they didn't have a safety originally. Stupid BATFE requires a certain number of points to allow importation. Without the safety they don't have enough point count to come in.

That's something that the new administration needs to address... I hope they do and we get back to the glory days of parts kits with barrels, etc.

I still have my jigs and tools to build AK's. It'd be fun to do a few more... but not for $350 per kit sans barrel...

Yeah, I don't like the safety either. I am considering removing it but then I would have a hole in the pistol that was not there before. I checked and the half-cock safety locks the pistol up tight as a drum, the trigger and slide won't move in half-cock, not sure why the ATF didn't consider it a safety. Hopefully I will get to shoot it tomorrow and I will post a range report.

Looking forward to it!

My range time for the next couple of weeks has been preempted. I will post a range report when I get a chance to go.

Chuck,

Check out this month's American Rifleman. They have a decent article on the Chinese version of the TT?

Just got my copy yesterday so I will be watching for it. I generally read it cover to cover anyway!

No. My weekend has been rearranged. I am taking a friend and his wife out next weekend, it is the first time she has shot a gun. If I don't get to go the week after I will probably not get to shoot it for almost a year as I am getting ready to deploy.

You'll probably like the shooting part. I picked up a Yugo Tokarev a couple of years ago & love firing it. Pretty accurate little pistol & the 7.62 bottle-neck round packs a hard punch.

I like the way the whole modular trigger group can be lifted out for inspection & cleaning.
