Closest thing to that I can think of is the Ruger Single Six convertable - will shoot any .22 rimfire with a simple cylinder switch. You can get the shorter barreld version for compact carry. But its not excepitonally small...

The Bearcat is small... but not convertable... least not that I remember.

I do like those little snubby Smiths - the ultralight one that holds 8 rounds is pretty dang cool - model 317.

Heritage Arms makes the rough riders that sell in the $150 range, they come with a magnum cylinder and will shoot shorts, longs, LR and mags. I had one of those and a Ruger single six, they were comparable in accuracy so I ended up carrying the rough rider 9 times out of ten. The only down side to any single action like the RR or Ruger is how slow they are in reloading.

Hey thanx mriddick. That is exactly what I was looking for. Is it ok to shoot long ammo out of a long rifle cylinder? I probably would be using CCI
CB Longs. These are subsonic rounds, I guess you know, would this matter?

I'm not mriddick, but I'll tell you - yes, you are fine. Blanks, floberts, shorts, longs and long rifles are all good out of the long rifle cylinder.

If you shoot alot of the shorter cartridges out of the LR cylinder you might get some lube build up that will make the LR's seat hard but it will cause no damage a brush won't remove.

IIRC, the only thing you have to be careful of is that if you're shooting 22LR out of a 22Magnum, that repeated shooting can start to make an indentation in the cylinder tubes thus making it hard for insertion and removal of the 22Magnum... Kinda like the shooting .38 special a lot through a .357 argument.

What is the argument?I shoot .38 special in my 686 99% of the time for practice with double action.What is the issue with doing that?

Do not shoot LR out of a magnum cylinder! They are not the same diameter! Not safe.

The .22 Mag has a tapered case that is larger at the head than the .22 LR case.

The .22 Mag is NOT just en elongated .22 LR case.

Yeah the guy was sling lead all over the place.He was hitting our targets as well.I asked what he was shooting and show me his little kel-tec .380 and then I looked at the cases as he was trying to clear them.They were .32 ACP I told him you can't shoot that in that gun and he said that was all the store had.

I told him he was going to blow his gun up if he kept shooting it.He packed up and left.Dumbass.

That is good info, I did not realize that. Never would have tried it anyway, but now I know there is a reason.
