Seems that we are on a buying spree for AK's! Doesn't say how many though. I thought we were going to supply them with M16's/M4's?

Heaven forbid any US companies benefit from an arms deal with another US-backed country. If the Afghans want our help, then buy M4's from us. Simple.

My guess would be the Afgans aren't equipped to service M4's, and lack the knowledge and skill to keep them running. AK's are pretty simple to maintain and don't tax the brain power that much of those who use them.

Nobody with a choice in the matter would take an M4 over a Kalashnikov.
