Well new to me picked this old girl up the other day. Marked Mark IV 38 145/200 and at the bottom War Finish.

A little history...

Webley revolver, .38, Mark 4. Officially adopted for military service in 1942, this was initially a scaled-down version of the .455 Mark 6 revolver, chambered for .38 S&W cartridge, and developed by Webley & Scott in 1923 for police use. These guns were officially regarded obsolete as late as in 1963. It should be noted, that official british .38/200 ammunition was based on early, blackpowder .38 Smith & Wesson cartridge, and was used with heavy 200 grains (13.4 gramms) bullet, leaving the muzzle at relatively slow velocities of about 198 meters/sec (650 fps).

ive always wanted one of these pistols.
i remember the first time seeine of these in a movie (pink floyd the wall ,he father is loading one in the bunker)
anyway very nice looking weapon

I got two of them in Alexandria, Va in 1961 for $20 each. My newest one was $300 from SOG.

Very nice example . Is that fine pitting i see overall.

There is still some 176 gr. FN ammo out there that was produced for the Hong Kong Police in the 60's/70's, it shows up occasionally at gunshows. It's the only round that seems to shoot to point-of-aim for these revolvers. It comes in funky, transparent yellow celluloid 25 round "boxes". Keep an eye out.
