I bought a much faster server than the current server. I am going to be migrating GN to the new server. I'll need to disable GN on this site (make it read-only) then copy everything/configure and then fire it up on the new server. If its running fine, I'll enable read/write.

I'll let you guys know before I start. Should be this week sometime.

It should be. I migrated my other webserver to it which also included the database. Worked well. I'm off the next two days so I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow or Wednesday.

This will be a time to go clean the guns, make sure the sights are lined up, walk out and have that big yellow circle outside bathe you in light.. LMAO

Mother F'er...

Close.. back to the same server... database error. Could be my database config. We're close. I'll take another shot at it later.

Most of it done.

Need to move VM back to another drive..but its up.

PLEASE TEST. Is it running as fast? Needs more resources? etc...

Looks good! Went to a photo intense thread and it loaded very nicely. I figured something was up when a few minutes ago I got that dreaded 404 not found. In this case, thanks for the warning, and thanks for what looks like a great result.

Photos do load much quicker. I love it!

Thanks!

Sorry folks..

Had to power down. Installed 2 hard drives so I can move the VM to the new drives. I'll have to do this once more to do the actual move. I'll setup the hard drives now, then bring it down again. This time it may take longer as I have about 60gb to transfer over.

Ok folks..giving another heads up..

Disks formatted and RAID'ed...need to take server down and then transfer 60gb.. I'll do that in about 30 minutes. Then I'll fire it up.

Ok.. VM transferred to new disks.

Dont need to do anything else for a while. Test.. report back with responsiveness etc..

Running on a pretty bad ass r710 with dual quad core 2.93ghz processors and 4 10k SAS disks, 48GB RAM. I dont need 1000 horsepower, but it makes merging with traffic easier.
