What is your favorite movie that featured a 1911 being used.

We Were Soldiers with Sgt. Maj. Basil Plumley and his 1911.

Here's a nice list of movies with the 1911... http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/1911

So many choices. I would have to go with The Hunt For Red October.

Since my choices are taken, I'll add The Untouchables... :p

Red Heat. There are several members of a black gang all armed with identical 1911A1s.

Besides the obvious war movies like We Were Soldiers and Saving Private Ryan, I would like to add Ronin. Can't remember exactly if it's seen in the movie, but DeNiro has best line about it near the beginning...I'll try to find and post.

He pulls it out and shoots it under the bridge, when they are buying guns. That is a good movie.

Oh I'd pick two.

Last Man Standing - Bruce Willis carries two of them.

Heat - Al Pacino carries an officers Model 1991.

Well, not a movie but from a series: The "Vegas" episode of Stargate Atlantis where Shepard pulls an ultimate stainless 1911 from his glove box.

The Way of the Gun

Both main characters use 9x19 Government Series 70 pistols. I particualry like the big shoot out scene where Rhan Phillippe carrys a bag full of mags with him. Lots of reloading which is much more realistic than the usual movie gun that never runs dry.

Face/Off

Gotta love Nicholas Cage's twin, gold plated Springfield Armory V-10 pistols, especially with that twin, SOB rig he carries them in. Vented barrel, 10+1 capacity pimped to the max!

The gun play was unrealistic for the most part, but still fun to watch. It's a 1920's tale of "fist full of dollars" and "yojimbo" both of which I haven't seen in years...

"Patton" and "The Phantom" with Billy Zane.

The Lost Battalion with Rick Schroeder. A WWI story that got shelved between the world wars and not made into a movie until 40+ years after WWII.

Didn't Tom Selleck in Magnum PI always pull a 1911 when he needed it?

IIRC... it was a Colt Govt. Series 70 MkIV.
