Are they any good? Any info would help.

When you say, "good," what are you asking?

As far as being desirable, yes, in that they are getting pretty scarce, if you're looking for one.

If I ever found one, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Just make sure its a legit one. There are a lot of knock offs. Look for engraved serial number and the proper parts of the receiver cut out to lighten it. I have seen a lot of number 4's bubba'd into number 5's...

I've heard recoil can be a bit on the stout side.

Thanks guys. It is a gift. In real good condition. It's marked NO.5 MK 1.

Dont get ripped off.

Should have Lightening cuts in the sides of the receiver , rounded lightening cuts around the barrel shank, hollow bolt handle.

Proof testing mark should be 1-2" in front of the barrel band.

Recoil isnt that bad, ive shot the ammo i have loaded up for my bren through mine and it isn't too rough .

BUT i generally just stick with a 170gr cast load using 11g of unique.

Here is mine. Yea, it kicks, but not as bad as the Mosin M44. It really makes a pretty good brush gun. I've carried it when hogs were around my place, but never got a shot at them. Accuracy is adequate.
