Unfortunately I am unable to read the link right now. Is it moving forward or just the same information that the law allows it but the Army does not want to sell them through the CMP?

There is a link in the story that refers to H.R. 2810, Sec. 1091 that specifically describes no less than 8000 M1911/M1911A1 pistols will be transferred to the CMP each year for 2018 & 2019. https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/2810/text#toc-HF94B7D802A594346A14DC196D3278396

Yep, I read that article you linked. CMP is where they are supposed to be headed.

But we have been waiting for about 2 years for them to actually head that way.

Irritating. 2 background checks. Only orders received by mail will be considered. This means that those people closer to the CMP store will have their orders considered before someone, like me, that lives across the country from the CMP store will be able to get their order in. Last, item 2 in their list makes it seem like they were not obeying the law before, which is not true. This whole thing is starting to bug me.

Something to bear in mind, they aren't going to initiate the lottery until they have 10,000 orders. Once they post the date you will have to submit all new paperwork. It says no early postmarks so I'm not sure how early you can get your stuff notarized? Still they won't input the random numbers until they have 10K orders so I'd imagine that might take a few days. One could always go with priority mail. I too thing the two BC is excessive but in today's climate and given the fact the CMP hasn't sold handguns before, (I believe the DCM did but that was a different organization with a different charter) I guess it's to be expected. A lot of folks on the different forums have been speculating about mass purchases for resale, etc., I guess the lottery and one per calendar year negates that aspect. Wasn't planning on getting one myself but this might not be a bad way to go about it.
