Judges Order All Cops Entering Courthouse Searched

Oct. 27—CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A policy at the Kanawha County Judicial Annex to conduct wand searches of police officers entering the building has caught some off guard.
Lt. Debra Walters, who heads up the Kanawha County Sheriff’s judicial security team, said several officers were surprised when they found themselves stopped and checked for weapons with a handheld metal detector.
They had been an exception to a strict rule in place there.
