Firing pins on 1911 Colt Series 80 pistols have blocking devices (arrow)
that come in contact with the pin as an added safety device. No matter
how hard the owner asks, don’t remove these.


Yeah... um... that pictured part is NOT the Series 80 firing pin blocker.
It's the little plate that retains the firing pin and it's spring in the slide (on ANY 1911 pistol).
Remove it and the firing pin and spring go "sproing" and fly across the room, never to be seen again.
