The FR-8 is a quality-built rifle/carbine. And, I love that it's chambered for .308.

I've gotta get a bayonet for mine....

Had one years ago. There is a local shop with four of them priced at around $325 as I recall. Perhaps I should take a harder look at them.

Do not shoot commercial .308 in these. It is best to use 7.62x51N hand loaded to minimum specs. They were not designed for the higher pressures. They were re-barreled from 7mm Mauser (FR7) and 8mm Mauser (FR8) that had much lower pressure ratings.

That might make sense if it’s the FR-7 as that uses the small ring Mauser action but the FR-8 used the large ring 1898 Mauser action which has handled a lot of cartridges including the 7.62 NATO for decades.
