I don't suppose a yard sign at the little hut in the woods would do any good but I'll start saving my nickles and pennies for my donation...but first a new roof for the house.

Supposed to be 30 year shingles but they have been there for 10 years and look terrible. Not leaking yet but it will be a hold my fingers till spring time. Steel will replace the shingles, I'm to old to go through this again and the steel roof I want is guaranteed for 50 years.

2nd pot of coffee, Sanborn, decaff but hot black and strong. donut and toast for breakfast, couldn't face cereal again today and I'm having a bad back week so standing long enough to make oatmeal or fry an egg wasn't going to happen.

Did get some .410 shooting done day before yesterday and some 45 ACP shooting done yesterday. Still shooting up the last of the 1976 batch I made a hundred years ago only these hadn't been resized so they are having trouble feeding. Still darn accurate though.

Supposed to snow or rain this afternoon, I vote for rain but I don't think anybody in the weather department cares about my vote. Still have garden clean up and roof work on my deer blind to do. Might not get done this year but I'm going to try.

Back to my real job tomorrow, OG thanks we are setting up the "exploratory" committee to start raising the funds. I will send you a yard sign from this campaign if you like, we are reusing one type. Again going we are going to take pride on being cheap.

Raining here, waiting for a warm day to go riding, Army son is getting married next month and hes coming here to do it. I hope he knows when he can get leave soon we cant even plan.

Well enjoy the ride, I'm going out to the shop to make a table for my mother, then maybe, if I'm still able, I will burn some gun powder.

When you get your paper work done and name on the ballot send that sign, I'll put it right next to my mail box and send a picture of it to you. You can label it "Grumpy old Cheeseheads for Kathy". Or maybe not, I don't know if it would help or not. It sure will mess with my neighbors minds though and it will be worth it for that. Gun owners, family full of ex marines, yet they voted Democrat????? It boggles me little mind.:conf44:

I have a rule with winter riding; if it is cold enough to need chaps; I take the bike apart or something. lol.

I'd like to pull the heads on mine and set the valves up for a different cam. Some of the new designs hit lower in the rpm than my S&S 495 (for the gear heads: http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/hdcam_shovel_bydur_ql.htm) which is a good thing.. However, a 106" engine has a shyte load of torque; so, a new cam is a want not a need and the way things are; I'll keep the cash.

I got my truck paid off, and today, I'm sending my mom off to Europe to see the sights and visit my sister. She always wanted to visit Europe. I provided the tickets, and my sister will be providing the bed, board, and will be her driver. She's 80 years old. She said, as a child, she always wanted to tour Europe. She's so excited that she said she feels like a child again! :coffee:

Yer a good man 63, and lucky you ma can and wants to do this. Mine is 84 and way to weak for a trip like that and she wouldn't remember where she was going or where she had been when she got back. Best we can do is keep her comfortable.

OG It is a welcome break from the seedy world of politics. Next time I will seek the Libertarian endorsement, you can get more than one and be on the ballot twice....

I went back to work on Friday and today, I blocked out next years vacation..LOL It sleeted here today, forgot what winter was like. :crybaby:

When you debate her, be careful that you don't fall for the trap of, "You don't want taxes, but you want education, firefighters, the military, police, the court system, NASA, on, and on, and on...." I noticed this is becoming a common tactic. The best comeback I can think of is to say "Only an extremist would think in absolutes like that. Of course these things are necessary, but keeping in mind that tax money belongs to the tax payers and should be used in the most effective manner is important too. Cuts need to be found. Programs need to be streamlined."

Something that's happening around here is, if a school district is found not up to standards, it's split up and given to surrounding districts that are more effective. The quality of education goes up, and the education money is saved by cutting the administration. The fire departments are consolidating their administration around here to save costs also. We're a conglomeration of little towns that are fairly close with rural areas between the towns, so I don't know if that would work in your area.

Thats a great idea but here schools are town to town and in the district Im running in there are only one or two elementary schools and a regional HS. They had to lay off 7 teachers in Cheshire and close a school altogether in Wallingford. Its the unions that make it impossible to clean up education and they are why the socialist Dems stay in power.

I debated her twice, she stinks at it and when she speaks its barely audible.

My uncle passed away earlier this year. He was a Vietnam vet. He was in the Navy as a medic, and was attached to a Marine squad. I know he saw and did more than his fair share because he ended up with drug and alcohol problems. My aunt said it was so bad that she divorced him so they would have some kind of money to pay the rent and feed their daughter. I'm pretty sure he understood because he set her up to receive military survivor's benefits.

When my uncle passed away, my cousin took all the military records, marriage certificate, the death certificate, and all the other important papers that was in my uncle's apartment. When my aunt tried to renew her ID card, she couldn't find the DD-214. Recently, she got a a letter in the mail saying she has survivor's benefits coming to her. However, a few days later, she gets a letter in the mail saying that my cousin has to forward my uncle's records in so she can get the survivor's benefits. According the the Defense Department, kids who are married, over 18, or 22 if they're in college, don't qualify for the Survivor's benefits. When my aunt told me cousin she was going to find her marriage certificate in Japan, my cousin said she'll take care of it for her. Later, she said she couldn't find it, and my cousin's husband said it doesn't exist.

Last week, Erika located a copy of my aunt's marriage certificate in Japan. When my aunt told my cousin the marriage certificate was located, my cousin told her mom it was too late to collect the survivor's benefits. I REALLY hope it's only my imagination, but it looks to me like my cousin ripped off her mom! :swear:

Hello all, I have been AWOL for about 7 years from this forum, you all helped get me through a long one year remote tour in Korea back in 2003. Life got really busy for about three years upon my return and then I retired from the AF. Glad to recognize some of the names on this forum as the rest of the site has changed drastically. I still drink coffee and will check in from time to time. Hope all has been well for everyone!

I really don't understand what would make a fairly successful person take advantage of her widowed mother like that. To steal from her mother like that????!!! Okay, maybe I should back down a little. There's clues that point to her taking from her mom, but the DOD will discover for sure. When my aunt places her claim, the DOD will say she'll get the money, or will say the payments are being made already. If that happens, I'm siccing the FBI onto the case. I'm sure Uncle Sugar doesn't like people stealing from them.

Well, she's shopping, every woman's ideal heaven on earth. Of course she's doing good. :o

Ma's been moaning and groaning for 2 weeks, took her to town yesterday to buy a shirt. Took all day, spent $3.69 after 3 discounts and the sale price. Still giggling today.

I would have gone in, spent $36 and been home 40 minutes after leaving home. Women got it to a science, I'm lost if its anything but a hammer or a box of ammo.

I'm having my aunt process the paperwork to get her survivor's bennies. If the DOD says it was already paid, I'm sure they'll deal with the problem. If I hear they won't, I'll report it to the FBI, the media, and spread the information all over the web! As far as I'm concerned, who ever stole the money deserves the jail time! I don't care if it's my cousin and her husband. If it was her and her husband, they deserve it even more!

63D now all you can do is wait and see. I hope your Aunt gets her benefits, that would be the best outcome.

I talked to my son in the Army, the doctors say there are very few jobs he could do in the Military now. He is limited to lifting no more than 15 lbs, his knees back and neck are messed up. His command is screwing with people on Med Board, and some of his friends have gotten screwed out of their benefits. Son is being very careful to avoid this problem himself.

He feels everyone who gets a raw deal owes it to the rest of those who were injured in combat to stand up and not get cheated to stop the precedence being set for those coming behind them.

I liked what Glenn Beck said Friday, pay congressmen and women what a CPL gets paid in the Army. A great idea I think...:animatedsalute:

It's best to get as much public coverage as possible to get the command to stop messin with those who deserve the medical out.

I have volunteered repeatedly, he says they have already involved the Congressman and he is also working with the Military lawyers.

He didn't want me to do it, but I may anyway. His condition is wear and injury. He was in 2 blasts in Iraq and injured in training. Some knucklehead made him run carrying a guy who couldnt keep up, with all of both of their gear. The knucklehead then grabbed the guy my son was carrying and twisted him wrecking sons knees. Then they kept delaying real medical attention until he passed out from the pain trying to keep working. They were preparing to deploy, and were putting pressure on everyone to deploy regardless.

They had deployed a badly injured guy before and Congress eventually stepped in. It makes no sense other than they are playing with numbers. But these young guys will have to live with the damage that dumb asses cause and then also the insult to injury is that they are also deprived of the medical care they deserve.

They were preparing to deploy, and were putting pressure on everyone to deploy regardless.Young men under pressure without much life experience have always made some bad judgments and gotten people hurt in the rush to complete their objective. the military has always been slow to adjust their methods and acknowledge mistakes. My prayers for your son and hopefully whoever is representing him is good and can find a sympathetic ear. I pray he gets a fair hearing. It isn't just the army, I can think of several dozen cases of training accidents that resulted in injury or death since I first joined in 63 and changes always came slowly.

Getting ready to pick my mom from the airport on Monday. I loaded her shed with a ton of lingetics logs yesterday. That will last her more than the winter if the weather gets cold. I think she'll be surprised when she gets back. :)

She ran out of money while she was in Germany. My sister said she spent over $1,000 on fabric in Amsterdam, then forgot her pin number was for her debt card. I think that saved her savings account. :coffee:

Aw bless her heart, almost did the same thing in Spain and Hong Kong. Good thing I am pretty set on being a cash only guy and that most of my paycheck went into Savings Bonds.

Did you guys save her or did she have to put the fabric back? Everybody has to go foolish and fall off the log at least once in their life.

Or twice...well maybe three times. :think: Okay, okay four times, everybody is allowed four times major splurge. Especially momma's, they earned it.

Cold here, we have a small kerosene heater. Keeping the electric heat on only high enough to keep the pipes from freezing. Its free to wear my coat in the house.

63D guess what the Army lost sons medical records. I told him repeatedly to insist on copies. He says they make it impossible to get a copy. Im fed up with the goofiness not sure what I could ever do to help... its so frustrating. :fighting0056:

Kathy, one recourse is for your son to find someone who remembers the incident where your son was injured. Another is to find someone who remembers your son going to the aid station and what he went there for. There will be the assumption of injury on the part of the Government as all the walking with weight the soldiers had to do. He'll have 90 days after he gets out to place a claim that isn't in his records. It'll be harder for him to get the disability claims, but it's possible.

Thanks 63D, I will tell him. He is thinking that this will delay his medical discharge anyway. He still doesn't have the date for his December leave so that also messed up his wedding next month. Looks like they are messing with him, but he and his bride will just drive here. That may be better, flying has become a little weird anyway.

She turned the master bedroom into a fabric storage room. Just about every time I go over there, she has me stack more fabric higher. I'm afraid I'm going to find her buried under a mountain of fabric one of these days! Ironiclly, she has a bumpersticker that says, "She who dies with the most fabric wins!"

Country folk from the old country back ground did have that collecting gene. I don't think either Grandma ever threw a scrap of cloth away if it could be used as a patch, in a rug or a quilt and you should have seen the paisley purple pajamas I had when I was 5...uh maybe better you didn't but I sure liked them at the time.

Lots of us kids in school back then with homemade clothes and while store bought may have been more prestigious I can't believe they were any better quality.

OG I would love to see those little jammies, I hand sewed my oldest son a tiny little pair of pants and a flannel by hand.....I loved that little suit. My grandma made clothes for us. Knitted and sewn, I have a poncho she made on her knitting machine from the oddest of 1960s colors that were likely on sale. It also has fringe.

Typing on the laptop my son got me for Christmas, can get enough of bragging about it.... sorry about it but last year I feared he would not find any work at all.

24 degrees was our high, i6t was supposed to get to 27 but they lied. Still no snow, flannel PJ's and a soft wool robe might have been just the thing today.

Most comfortable shirt I ever owned as an adult was handmade. Sometimes I wish I could sew but some days I have trouble just lacing up my boots. Isn't going to happen.

On my second pot of coffee, belly is beginning to complain, might have to bite the bullet and get some of that good stuff you guys talk about but I am under severe budget constraints at the moment.

Let us know how son is doing with the system. I hate it when they, (military), mess with their people like that and then deny everything. Sometimes they are so good and then...

One good story about his Army experience, the lady they have in charge of making sure the student loans are taken care of straightened that out. I got a copy of the statement in the mail. Its paid off. I almost had a stroke dealing with those people (the student loan people) and she fixed their wagon and made sure the paperwork went through.

It was in the mids 60s here but I had to work, could have spent a little time riding otherwise.

Hope you all have some plans to eat lots of fattening food on Thanksgiving. I also hope you all know how thankful and grateful I am for each and every one of you. Thank You for defending our great Nation and our Freedom.

Happy Thanksgiving day! I'm thankful for having friends like yall! I know I haven't met some of you, but I met most of you. I'm also thankful for having an outstanding family like what I have. I'm thankful for the spirit Liz and Erika have shown in working towards their individual goals and the support they show towards each other when they help each other.

I'm also thankful for the two kids I'm helping. They've been an eye opener because the life they had to live on the streets and the spirit they show in bouncing back and taking charge of their lives when they signed up for school and work study. I'm thankful for the appreciation they've shown for the second chance they're getting with their education.

Iv been away for a long time. So Iv missed a lot of things.

Anyway... 63 ... there are assholes all over the place, and the biggest assholes arround are usually family. I have a few assholes in my family too. I guess they think Im an asshole too.

Well... Al Gore can kiss my hairy ass. Global warming.... yeah right. Over here its so cold you got to bring a hammer to knock your banana loose if you take a piss outside. New record for November since they started to record the temperature. Today was -15C coming with a wind from hell. Its the russians fault. Bad weather coming from Siberia. They say its going to last for a while. X-mas or so....

Im in some kind of credit card trouble myself. As Im on the brinck of buying an original Rogers & Spencer. Its in incredibly good shape....but at some point someone has ruined the front sight and put a german style blade there. So the price is reduced dramaticaly. Still not like buying mousetraps at wallmart. Good thing is Iv been working my ass of for months, so Ill survive if Im stupid enough to buy it. And Im stupid allright. Infact, Old Grump is to blame for me being a stupid handgun nut..... Not that I hate him for it. He just opened my eyes. Well, OG didnt mention old percussion revolvers to be a part of the game, but he is still to blame for it. Ill ruin your mailbox when I get up there again OG. Did I mention that I got a "green card USA" when I turned 40 on the 15.? Yes I did. Mona gave me a big envelope. And inside was a "good to go" to Blue River along with pocket money..... So keep that light on for me please.

Apart from freezing and wasting money on old weapons there is nothing new over here. Little one has learned how to read and write though. Almost sad to think about that it feels like yesterday when she couldnt even talk or walk straight.

Getting colder over here. -15c today, or 5 F, in american. Not that bad, cause the air is pretty dry where I live. But I work in Oslo, and the humidity there is bad. No use in complaining about it. Cause it is going to get colder anyway. And its not a problem either, its just the way it is. Just a question of clothing. Be sure to drink enough water, dont take a shower in the morning, wool against the skin and you`ll be allright.

Yesterdays thing that flew over my floor was a cat... Norsk skogskatt, Norwegian forest cat. Big son b`s. Not as big as a bobcat, but a lot bigger than regular cats. They are not wild. Gave her some food and sleeping for a few hours by my fireplace she ran away again.

Still cold over here. Steady 0 F.

Mona has decided that we need a new couch. So there goes the Rogers Spencer money. Whats more important? Roger or a new couch. My vote doesent count...obviously.

The hearing itself went so smooth that I thought we were missing something. We were a little late because people were in a rush to get inside the elevators. The security people at the door were fast and courteous. I can't say the same for the the attorneys who were heading off to the courtroom. Liz's attorney was late because he was double booked between the State and County courts. When he got to our room, the judge said he liked the way Liz is involved in the community and in school. He mentioned he rarely sees guardians work with their wards to keep them as busy and happy as he sees with Liz's case. The judge said he was a bit apprehensive about the 1,000 oz of silver Liz bought last year until he checked how much it's going for today ($11.20/oz to $29/oz today)

BT, I didn't know the military had anything on American lake. It's but a stone's throw from where I live, so there's really no advantage to renting a place there. However, my parents used to rent out a place near Ocean Shores. I'd like to do the space available thing, and travel around the world. I used to have a book that listed all the vacation homes the military had to rent around the world. I'd like to see if I can find that.

I twisted my knee getting into my truck a few weeks ago. Just about the time it healed, I twisted my ankle and knee again. Yesterday, my washer decided to quit working properly. It's a side loader, and it wouldn't drain. Replaced the pump, and it's up and running. Fortunately, the thing is computerized and threw a code. That helped tons!

We stayed in the beach cottages at Camp Pendleton, it was great. We had the whole place to ourselves. All the boys came. Son at Ft Polk goes to the lake and cabins there, he got his boat captain license to go out on the lake.

My Army son told me he is getting lots of help and workshops for what to do when he gets out, he is eligible for the GI Bill. So hes looking at colleges near here, and elsewhere. (I am quietly hoping here)

Went to the "Fantasy of Lights" with the grandkids on the beach at lighthouse point. Very fun, then we visited Greggy... my little grandaughters favorite uncle, I gave her a choice of McDonalds or Greggys house. She wound up with both but I was surprised that she chose uncle over fun food or treats.

Going in for back surgery on the sixth. Never had a surgery before. I've been on pain medication for 8 weeks straight now.

Back in October I herniated a disc between L4 and L5 while up in the mountains closing down Gold Butte fire lookout for the winter. I was alone up there and my back went out while I was outside at night getting firewood for the wood stove. I was staying the night up there and it was cold, windy, and wet at 4600 ft elevation. The pain dropped me to my knees, so I crawled on my hands and knees back into the lookout and pulled out a cot to sleep in. Not much sleep when your crying in agony. The next day I slowly made my way down the mountain to where my truck was parked and drove the 2 hours back to the house in great pain. Went to the emergency room, got an MRI and pain medication. 8 weeks later I'm scheduled to have a right lateral microdiscectomy. Just removing a fragment of the disc to relieve the pressure on my nerve. I've got severe sciatica down the right leg now, with loss of motor skill to walk and numbness in the foot. Lots of pain in the bottom of the foot. Don't sleep to well. I'm really looking forward to getting this taken care of. Couldn't hunt this year and haven't been able to do much of anything. Luckily my job is pretty sedentary. Electronics and all that stuff.

Iv been eating nothing but meat, eggs and vegetables for a while now. No bread or shait like that. And I feel great... Lost 15 pounds too. Bacon and egg every morning. My pile of moose meat is getting smaller though.

Oh.. I got a ghost in the house. A friend of Mona saw it yesterday. Iv had a feeling for some time. And now Im sure. My 44 Russian die set is gone. Must be that ghost. I dont mind as long as it turns it back in a few days.

How can anyone get excited over blowing something up so far away that they can't see what they destroyed?I didn't mind a bit, I didn't want to see what was happening. Not to worry for the modern sailor. Since the Navy has done away with all of its 16" and 8" platforms, ie, battleships and heavy cruisers, the US Navy is now woefully under gunned and rely almost entirely on their missiles for long range and on their rapid fire 5" guns for close up and personal. I prefer my targets 15 miles or further away so he can't see me either.

I am a full blooded coward when it comes to getting poked full of holes from unfriendly fire. The targets for my system didn't dare get within 35 miles of my ship or we launched. They didn't have time to turn around and go away again. If they got close enough that we could hit them with our 5" guns then they were close enough to hit us with their rockets. That sucked. I preferred them to be blips on the screen, not something I could see and hear with the naked eye.

I am not sure what depth the snow here got to, they didnt plow my road and the power was out all day. That was a bit bad since we have wells out here so we were without water. My son and co came over for the kerosene heat since they had no heat water or electricity either.

We had some fun and I had some nice chicken soup. It was a great snow day.

I have a well also so same as you no power is less fun. With the high winds I am surprised the power stayed on. The wind torn a neighbor's shed apart; the roof landed on the Japanese dresser which was inside.

I broke into the (canned) chicken soup also.

Kathy, sign arrived today. I haven't opened it yet, not really fit for man or beast outside and I have passed 5 kidney stones in the last 6 days and another trying to get out so it may be awhile before I get out to the shop to make a display stand for the sign. Besides Oxycontin and power tools don't mix very well. Going to get better soon, I have been drinking gallons of juices and coffee. Nurse sister made half a ton of banana bread today so It's going to get better real soon. I need to get pain free and off these pills so I can taste the banana bread.

Lost an oak tree on the hillside bhind my house and a green ash or wild cherry tree in the back field, not sure yet which one. Wanted to shoot but between feeling kind of fuzzy and a foot of snow on my shooting bench I decided to stay in the house and listen to my jazz albums.

Sure glad I'm not flying out of Paris, Brussels or New York today, good time to stay close to home.

Pardon the rambling but thats the way I feel right now, kind of disconnected.

Long story shortened, my Republican Town Committee focused on their town election all while I was running for state rep... that was all they talked about. I helped with their fund raising etc...they barely lifted a finger to help me. Now they are looking for someone to run for first selectman equivalent to a mayor. They asked me to do it, I laughed and said hell no. Boy are they lazy.

HDR, yes a well really complicates power outages. I think we got 14 or 15 inches here, NYC got nearly 2 feet...Thank God for Global warming. The dog wont leave the small shoveled area. She wants to be dried with a towel when she comes back in... Ive spoiled her.LOL

I had to do the same thing back in 1992. First wife. I had to elope to Carson City, NV to be able to get her added to my orders for Germany. We had a "wedding" 5 months later.

Mom was not happy when I made that phone call.

My stones are calcium carbonate and spinach was the first food off my list, asparagus and the others are on the list too. They are favorites of mine but I can only have a limited portion and no more than once a month. A bummer since some of my favorite foods are included. I have to take a phosphate pill 4 times a day and that inhibits the stones from forming but I get tired of taking it and within a year of getting lazy I pay the price. Been going through this for nearly 30 years and my last stone was 2 years ago. When I behave I can go 5 or 6 years. It's a pain but if I behave I can live with it.

I apologize for not being around much lately. Liz has been keeping me in stitches lately. I have a very liberal friend who decided the Democrats aren't who they sold themselves to be. When he heard Liz loaned $5,000 to the kids I'm helping so they can get into college, he said he was proud of her as that was a very liberal thing to do. Liz's reply was, "If it wasn't for capitalism, I wouldn't be able to afford to do liberal acts."

When Liz asked how much has he donates, he said he can't afford to. Liz zinged him again when she typed to him, "Maybe a little more Conservatism would help."

Canon did its job on new years eve allright. Took it over the border to the Swedish side. Big succsess. One boom was so loud that the snow fell of the roofs and drowned 3 sweeds. Hillarious.... I was a bit worried when I drove through the customs, but I guess they thought a canon is standard equipment on a Dodge Ram. Not against the law to have a canon anyway... dont know about crossing the border though.

Nothing else happening. Norway is still white and we are supposed to get 1,5 feet more of it tonight.

Still on oxycodine and still trying to get rid of the biggest stone, it doesn't want to leave and its making life pretty miserable. Finiishing off second pot of coffee as I write this and then I will start on my second liter of cranberry juice. Also drinking Sprite, Ginger Ale, and a whole mess of other juices I don't want to admit are even in the house.

Could be worse, I could be ugly. Fortunately I'm only 1/8th Norwegian.

She and her friends fooled around with it spoofing a ritual after going to a horror movie when she was a kid, she also made an anti-masturbation video but nothing was heard about that. It never would have come up but she mentioned the Wiccan thing on the Bill Maher show and of course he had to drag it out into the open. She was the conservative foil on his show in an attempt to bring balance and she had a pretty face. Her problem is she was old school Conservative, smart and outspoken, the party bosses wanted somebody they could mold and control and lie with a straight face. If it hadn't been for the Wiccan thing they would have found she had hammer toe or mispronounced the word 'flabbergasted' or something equally stupid to bring her down. Maybe she drinks red wine with trout or can belch the first 3 stanzas of Barnacle Bill the Sailor, they would have found something.

Microdiscectomy (disc) surgery tomorrow at 1300 hrs Pacific Time. I'll check in when I get home sometime on Friday. I've never had surgery before. My 20 yr old son has had numerous surgeries throughout his life, such as airway reconstruction and surgery to drain infectious masses from the brain so if he can take it in stride, I guess I can.

Don't think I'll be doing much but surfing the internet for a couple of weeks.

You will be up on your feet and walking your tush off way before you expect. They don't let you lay around recuperating anymore so you may get some surfing time in but you will have to seal it in the wee hours of the night when you aren't doing PT and other chores. I pray for a successful outcome and complete recovery.

Try everything you can lay your hands on, from 125 gr hollow points to sneaky slow but accurate 148 gr WC to 180 gr lead round nose bullets. You have everything from dainty little paper punching power to absolutely ruining the day of a Moose. I don't recommend the latter, he might ruin your day too. Somewhere is the bullet that your gun likes over all others and you will love it for that reason alone.

Now give, barrel length, model number, picture, target, don't be so stingy with the information. My weather map only gives you a 90% chance of it snowing tomorrow and temps all the way up to 32 degrees. Perfect shooting conditions. :coffee: Makes the coffee and hot chocolate taste that much better.

Taurus makes fine guns. I just recently traded for a PT1911 and it is a tack driver. I now keep a 357 ruger revolver down in the garage for backup.
Purchased some good but cheap hollow points from AIM.

BTW i like your new toy.

If you get frisky and shoot some serious hot stuff you will really appreciate the 6" and full rib. Any eyeball over the age of 30 appreciates those nice big glowing dots up front.

If you find the snappy loads a little hard to handle you might want to look at aftermarket Hogue grips. They make a world of difference in being able to grip the gun during recoil without the pain. I like the original grips but I had to take mine off the 41 mag and replace them with Pachmayr. Your hands are smaller than mine so you would probably like the finger grooves in the Hogue. Be less slippery when your hands get sweaty.

two nice things about the .357 revolver; One, you can shoot .38 special out of it to save $$$. Two, you can also get a lever action rifle in .357 so you have two firearms that uses the same round.

A friend said get a boot holster. She said that works for her, now I just need a giant boot. :wiggle:

Not to mention the toe of the holster would be at your ankle and the butt of the gun almost up to your knee. Something like this might work a little better as long as you aren't sliding in and out of your car while wearing it. Surgery went fine. I'm doped up on pain meds, but walking to the bathroom is quite a painful chore in the lower back, regardless. Can't stand up straight. Thank you all for the well wishes. I'm home now, and will be home for at least two to three weeks before I go back to work. Desk job thank goodness.

Back is hurting quite a bit, but I'm medicated. I have sciatic symptoms at the moment, but I have to cross my fingers its due to the swelling of the tissue that he cut next to the nerve. I'd hate to have to go back in to clear out more, as scar tissue next to a nerve increases risk because it's harder tissue than regular tissue. Having numbness returning to the bottom of my right foot is concerning me. I'll give the office a call Monday and make sure it's a normal symptom after surgery.

Profile- No bending, twisting, lifting more than 10 lbs. ,lay down or sit reclined, sit upright no more than 30 min. (i.e. eating dinner). I should be back to normal soon. 6 to 8 week recovery time.

As long as I don't re-herniate the disc again during recovery, I should be good to go.
