I had multiple chances to pick up a semiauto FNC rifle back in the 1980s. Wow, I HATED those external WELD marks. I thought it looked like something someone built in a garage. Not the 'fine' Fabrique Nationale finish that I was used to. I think that was a big reason why it did not sell well.

If my state wasn't C+R only MG, I would have bought an FNC when they were in the 7K range. I settled for an Costa Mesa Armalite AR18 for $5300.
