The BIY section needs to be livened up a little bit... This is my latest build. Bulgy RPK-74 built on a Cold Steel Solutions blank...

Whatta ya think? I just need to convince myself to drop a couple hundred bucks on a 45 rnd plum mag...

Sweet. Throw some Russian glass on it and see what it'll do.

Wanting a 1PN34 for it. I think that night vision was the only standard issue optic for the RPK-74 IIRC...

Thanks guys. I love the 74's!!! I only have 3 complete with 1 kit left to build. I like them better than my 47's and I have a dozen on so of them with 3 kits left to build. I wish it was the other way around...

It would be nice. It's a tough call between dropping $300 on a 5.45 drum that isn't original issue or $250 for a 45 round plum mag... I have a pile of 30 round plum mags that will suffice for now I think...

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Looking forward to a decree by Prometheus that there will be a shoot in his kingdom in the near future!

Nice job Tx, how was it working with the Cold Steel blank? Reason I ask, I have a Yugo kit coming with a Cold Steel 80% receiver. Troublesome issues you can warn me about or tips?? Any information is GREATLY APPRECIATED.

How about a bakelite 45 rounder for $65?

AIM has one left, here (http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=MAK74R45&name=Surplus+AK-74+5.45x39+45rd+Magazine&groupid=64).

It wasn't too bad. The magwell dimples lack a little to be desired but I filled them up with weld for the RPK so it didn't matter. Other than that, it wasn't bad. Don't get me wrong, it was quite a bit of tedious work measuring, locating & measuring again for holes and such. There was a little bit of a pucker factor working just because I looked at it as a one shot deal. I didn't want to screw it up so I made sure to double and triple check things before I cut or drilled anything.
