This is the only C&R item I have. It's a 1950's era Colt Challenger .22 semi-auto. Still in the original box with manual and cleaning kit. I'm not sure if the Hoppe's came with it or if that's something my grandfather put in there. Knowing him, it was probably on sale at Sears so he bought it and put it in the safe for the last 60 years.

I don't know, I've never shot it. I don't even know much about it. My crappy camera doesn't do it justice, though. It's a beautifully preserved gun, not a scratch on it.

Just saw the C&R handguns sub-forum. Sorry Mods. feel free to relocate.

The old colt semi autos were nice too bad they don't make them anymore.

No need to move the post. IMO if it is as minty as you state, to shoot it would be to devalue it. Colt handgun collectors would go nuts trying to buy that piece if they knew of it.

Looks just like the Browning Challenger. Did Browning buy the rights from Colt?

The Colt Challenger was made from 1950-1955 with just over 77,000 being manufactured. All were chambered in .22 LR only. Ready, you definitely have a keeper!

Can anyone help me find information on how to clean the Colt Challenger? My grandfather asked if I could find out and I don't know the first thing about firearms or where to start.

Below is a link to the owners manual for a Colt Challenger pistol. It has instructions on disassembly & cleaning. Hope this helps!
