I was channelling my inner Bunny (Kevin Dillon's character from Platoon) when I saw that: "Man, did you see that fucking AK come apart?"

I'm sure we have all heard the stories about how the special forces used to salt VC ammo caches in Vietnam with exploding rounds. I wonder if the CIA is doing the same thing to terrorists?

Maybe its not such a bad idea..... hell even spreading roumors like that isn't a bad idea....

I like how you can hear the dust cover clang against the ground a full several seconds after the kaboom.

Wow, it looked like the front trunion blew right out of the receiver and the barrel went with it. Maybe it was a screw build. ;)

It looks like there were two different kinds of ammo in that mag. About the second or third shot throws a fireball, then about 2-3 shots before it blows up, another fireball is seen. I wonder if that had something to do with it. Maybe those rounds were "salted."

I bet that is caused more by the camera frame rate than any ammo differences.

If it wee a screw build, the trunnion would still be attached.
Screws have more shear strength.

I find occasional fire balls shooting any ammo except Brown Bear ammo.
Brown bear produces fire every time, especially in an Ak pistol.

I remember someone testing an Ak with toothpicks jammed in the holes instead of rivets, it actually lasted a couple shots before coming apart.
Was that you ImanAknut?

Boooooom! Less catastrophic (to the operator) then AR or other platform kabooms.

It was the guy (and you) that taught me about building AKs back in 2004.
He's admin on another gun board now. Can't remember his name.

I am surprised the guy wasn't hurt. Given his probable terrorist leanings I must admit, disapointed as well. The clang a couple of seconds after the kaboom was funny though.
