Haven't read the story, but when I think about the idea that iron sights are outdated, I think about a firearm that is dropped on it's optic, with the resulting broken glass. Or the holo-sight or red dot with a dead battery.

I won't buy any firearm that doesn't have an iron sight for the reason mentioned above.
