picked up an early x-mas present for myself last night

wanna make it short as legally possible. i'm considering the knoxx spec ops folder or original rem cop folder, but would also like the option of a side saddle.
could chop the 28" bbl or i'm also looking for a used barrel to chop.
the factory stock is kinda hokey. should i go with wood?
sling or no?
sights?
thanks

After having mine (Norinco model 98) for a bit I took the folder back off and keep the original stock and foregrip. It came with upgraded ghost ring sights as compared to the Remington. I attached the sidesaddle to the stockI want the Knoxx? recoil reducion adjustable stock with the pistol grip.

From the picture I think you need to leave that barrel alone and just buy an 18 in. Add a magazine extension some ghost rings and maybe a weaver rail to mount a red dot sight. Thats what I would do.

A really good tactical shotgun needs to start with some really good tactical sights.
For this, LPA is top notch.
That's where I'd start.....
Same brand as you find on most high-end Benelli tactical guns.
You can choose between clamp-on or weld-on front sights too.
Pretty sweet.
Oh, and the front sight posts are replaceable with a lot of different varieties too.

Here's one.
And they are NOT cheap.
But, you said you wanted "tactical," as in, for serious work and hard use.

You can probably do a Google or whatever for the specific part numbers you like and see who has what prices.

Here is my $.02...
Speedfeed III stock
http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/botach_1744_62908809
Hogue or Blackhawk pebbled forend
http://media.midwayusa.com/ProductImages/Medium/567/567279.jpg
XS tritium front sight (just epoxy over bead)
http://www.xssights.com/store/pix/catalog/shotgun/shotgun4.jpg
Sidesaddle optional...
I run my Mossy 500 with this set up and it is quite effective.

And here is another tip, you can use the bolt carrier to unscrew the forend nut...just sayin'.

Do you have a rear sight, or do you just run a front bead?
How well can you transition to slugs with any accuracy?

Slugs are very accurate to 25 yds or a bit more even with no rear sight. Sight pucture is top half of the dot resting on the receiver. For 25+ yard slug work I'd go to a ghost ring set up. I have the FN SLP which is very sinilar to the Mossy 930 SPX in your other thread. The 500 is a house gun.

Ghost rings on a tactical shotgun have nothing to do with "looks."
lol....
Here, watch this vid.
The ghost rings allow hits with slugs from pretty far off.

Yes. You're fine.
Smooth bore shotgun are made to fire rifled slugs.
Rifled shotguns are not.

Your slugs are the right kind for the smooth bore. I shot them for a bit, they make a terrible mess in the barrel quick. Them and lead buck shot. My shootys primary role is home defense, for which either the 00 or slugs are too much IMO. Im looking for a nice steel shot a bit smaller in diameter. Not too small I dont belive in repeat offenders.

I currently have it loaded with 5 rounds 00 in the tube, 4 in the side saddle and 2 slugs in the saddle just in case a situation called for them.
