I know Fiocchi used to load good 9mm ammo, I shot it back in the 90s and routinely hit 1300 fps out of a Beretta 92. Of course that ammo was manufactured in Italy, not Ozark MO!

I recently ran 5-boxes of Fiocchi "Shooting Dymamics" 115 gr JHP(9APPHP)and 124 gr JHP(9APBHP)through my Beretta 92FS and a Pact Chronograph. The advertised velocity of the 115 gr JHP was 1290 fps, while the 124 gr was 1250!

10-shot strings of the 115 gr load measured 7-yards from the muzzle, averaged 1062 fps, while the 124 gr JHP jogged along at an average of 1033 fps! Total ammo fired was 150 rounds of the 115 gr and 100 of the 124.

Needless to say, I was quite shocked at the disparity between the catalog and my chronograph. So I contacted Fiocchi of America and talked with a guy named Troy. Troy told me that the published velocities were all misprints, further he stated that the true velocities were 1175, and 1100 fps respectively for the 115 & 124 gr JHPs from a 5" factory test barrel.

The Beretta 92FS barrel is 4.9".... I won't be back for anymore...

That's why I don't pay much attention to factory specs as found in catalogs and sales brochures. I shoot a lot of it, mostly 115 because it was on sale but 123 and 147, (my preferred weight). It all goes bang, hits close to where I want it to go from 7 yards to 100 yards and that's good enough for me. For the price I paid I don't expect match grade results.
