I'm considering using a YHM clamp on low profile gas block on my first AR build from scratch. What is your method for aligning the gas block with the gas port on the barrel?

I have the exact one you're talking about. If I remember correctly, it was easy as pie. It could only really go on in one place. I just made sure it was level, and tightened it up.

Level it up. I attach a rubber hose to the gas tube and blow through it to make sure the gas system is clear.
Once you get it lined up and are sure you might take one screw out and use a drill to dimple the barrel. Not too much, just enough to give the set screw a place to set so the gas block doesn't shift.

+1 on the barrel dimple, level and tight.

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I had read somewhere on some other forum where some guy created a second gas port in his barrel when he tried to dimple his barrel and went a little too far. I assure you that guy won't be me.
