I am trying to replace a Mosin M38 that my ex wife pawned when I was on my first deployment to Iraq. If anyone has a Russian M38 or M44 for sale, please let me know and how much you are asking. Thanks!

Yes, welcome the the C&R forums. Sorry to hear your wife screwed you out of your M38. Looking around the internet I see no M38 or M44 rifles for sale from any wholesale or Dealers. Only place I could find any was on some of the auction houses like Guns America or Gun Broker.

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum. You dont have to thank me for serving. It was just a job. :) My ex wife isnt going to make things right buy getting my M38 back. That bitch cant take care of herself let alone do something for me. Anyways, thank you all for helping me trying to find an M38. the ones that i have seen on gunbroker and gunsamerica are $200+. Im going to break down and spend just about whatever it takes to get mine back. If anyone happens to come across one and doesnt want it for yourself please let me know. I would love to have one similiar to the one she took from me. Russian Mosin Nagant M38 with a laminated stock.

Good luck trying to find an M38 they are quite scarce. M44's are out there but not that many. They are selling from 200 to 300 bucks on the gun auctions.

The X pawned your rifle and most likely didn't get squat for it. That is damn shame. Keep trying your local gun shows and gun shops .

Whats the deal with the shortage on M44s in the US? I thought they made tons of them.

Well according to records between 1944 and 1945 they made a good 7 million.

I figured that would keep the prices low. I wonder why their not importing more.

I haven't seen an M38 in the wild in ages... I see a few M44, but there's lots of 91/30's running around

That looks damn right pretty. Congratulations. See you already have sling on it.

Do you intend to shoot some military surplus ammo throught it.

Thank you very much. It came with a used sling. I could have bought a brand new one for around $25 but the one I have is fine for now. As far as shooting it, if I decide to shoot it I will shoot non corrosive rounds of course. The price of ammo has gone up since I used to buy it in bulk about six years ago, so im not sure which ammo is good to put through it. I remember when I could buy 1,000 rounds of 7.62x39 for $100 even and now its around $280. RIDICULOUS!!!

I plan on shooting it if I can find some non corrosive ammo.

Aim always has some. http://www.aimsurplus.com/catalog.aspx?groupid=40&name=7.62x54R.

I never shot the brown bear. But did buy a couple hundred rounds of the privi partizan because i reload and need to shoot some of it to see how accurate it is.

Not bad for 13 something a box and have decent brass to reload.

Seller and Bellot also make a noncorrosive loading for the 54R, but I haven't seen any in quite a while. Might be some Hornaday brand as well, though it's going to be very expensive. Frankly if one cleans proprely the corrosive ammo is not a problem. You will have to tear down the bolt and clean that as well as the salts get blasted up inside the bolt body.

Hey, a little late here but :welcome: to the board! Congrats on your new M38 - very nice!

And don't worry about the corrosive thing - just shoot, enjoy and then when you're done, run some wet patches (just water or water/windex) down the bore, then some dry ones and then one or two Hoppes #9 patches - finish with a dry patch and you're GG! Wipe the face of the bolt with a little Hoppes too. No worries - no need to pop for the non-corrosive.

Check here: http://www.gunsnet.net/forumdisplay.php?70-Ammunition-Depot for current deals on ammo - there's a sticky at the very top with fresh deals and also some that get posted regularly. $189 on Rusky 7.62x39 for instance.

Vietnam,Iraq,Afghanistan and a host of other countries the Russians supplied weapons to. I've seen stacks of them in captured weapons photo's and you know what usually happens to those.
