I have a set of Chicago knives, and I use them hard. I had to buy some of them separately because I couldn't afford to buy the complete set all at once but it's doable and worth it. Not the best knives out there but for the price I am very happy with them.

I found a nice set of Chicago Cutlery at Wally World a few years back. They were in the clearance section marked down fro 199.99 to 25.00 bucks.I'm guessing an employee was going to snag them later on but I got them.

Full tang 3 rivets,8" Chef,Carving knife, three different pairing knives, butchers steel, block, and kitchen shears. Two slots left open for another chef and bread knife.Stainless steal and hold a good edge.

This model was discontinued and I have not been able to find matches to this design.Look for full tang and 3 rivets in your search, also make sure the knife is comfortable in your hand.My sister bought a set of Kitchen Aide knives because they matched her decor. They suck, uncomfortable, and are weak. The spine is nearly as thin as the cutting edge.

Chicago Cutlery makes a good product for a fair price. J.A. Henckels, Wusthoff and Shun also make good to very good quality sets at different price points.

I have two sets that are withstanding the test of time. One is the J.A.Henckles and the other is WMF Spitzenklasse.
The Henckles are better knives but the WMF was cheaper.

JA Henckles all the way. They have forged blades that retain a edge and stay sharp. Buy cheap knives you definitely get what you pay for.

We bought some CutCo knives about 8 years ago. Still razor sharp and I have never sharpened them. They can be expensive though and you have to either order them online or have a salesperson to your house as they are not sold in stores. They are made in America, though.
