FWIW,

I just purchased 10 5gallon Mylar bags and 10 2000cc O2 oxygen absorbers to seal some grain/flour/bisquick in...

Guess what I just recently learned? Those EXPENSIVE O2 oxygen absorbers... are nothing but iron shavings and salt. Oxygen is used to oxidize the iron shavings turning it into rust, that's how it works... oxidation uses the O2 to rust the iron and in the process the O2 is used up.

The O2 absorbers are pretty expensive at a couple bucks a piece... I just learned that those "Hand Warmers" are the exact same thing for about HALF the price!

No kidding...

Save yourself some money and buy hand warmers instead!

Thanks for the heads up man. I have some of those hand warmers around here somewhere.

Huh, I seem to remember that both products contain iron, but I didn't realize you could use the hand warmers as oxygen absorbers. Are we sure about this? I ask because I use a lot of the hot hands and toasty toes, this time of year. When it's really cold out and I'm planing on a long sit, I even use the large hot pads, one taped to your back helps a lot when it's below say 20 degrees and the wind is blowing.
