What browser do you use? On Ozzie's site (Delphi), there were all kinds of ads visible if I used Internet Explorer. If I used my regular browser (Firefox), I saw no ads.

Talk to any web developer and ask them how much time they spend tweaking their code to "also" work with Internet Explorer and you'll never use that trash again.

It probably has more to do with the owner of the site recouping from all the down time and lost add revenue, and/or paying for the new setup.

Don't know but it might also only show up for people that are not paying members, there's nothing wrong with that. Make sure you click on as many of the ad's as possible and even buy something if it meets your needs.

Normally with Ad Blocker, it asks permission to show the pop-ups.
I haven't seen that option with the Goggle ads.

I went to the ad block feature earlier today.
There is no reference to Google in it.
I have no way to unblock it that I know of.

Not only that, but the Google shit doubles the load time for a page here. Look at your status bar when you open a page and the last thing that finishes after a minute or so of loading is "google adsense". :thumbsdown:

Thanks for the heads up on the Element Hider. I didn't have that one installed and some text and IFrame ads were able to sneak through. It's kinda embarrassing to close a window and see that another window called "Barely legal teen sluts" was hiding underneath! :lool:

(edit to add): WOW the element hider is awesome! It's actually a great companion to Firebug... it shows the name of any highlighted element and it's parent nodes! Awesome!

Pop ups and embedded ads are both annoying. I understand that the board needs cash to run... but I paid my $100 this past January... I didn't get a penny's worth out of it for 7 months and I didn't complain. Now I'm set as a "Gold member 04/2010". Oh? The board has been up since April? Could have fooled me (and everyone else).

Then finally I come back here and everything is fucked up. I can't post images because my "quota" is used up (with smilies... WTF???), I can't edit posts without the stupid edit time showing and now I'm supposed to have ads pop up in my face or "feel guilty" about "not supporting Gunsnet" if I block the ads? Not to mention that Google Adsense slows the board to a crawl.

The same old people are harassing the same way they always have and it's OK. Frankly, I don't need this shit.

Before the old Gunsnet went down, I figured that the lack of moderation and the non-enforcement of the rules was due to the admins not having access to the board. But now we supposedly have that all fixed and I still read the same old shit from the same old few people.

Fuck it all. I've had it. I'm outa here. Nothing against you AKT... I hope you know. It's the same few troublemakers. Well let them shit all over this board... let's see how long they will get away with it. Not that I'll know because this is my last post.

You paid $100.00 ok and thank you for supporting us and I have invested over 100 times over your contribution in getting this website up and do you see me complaining?

So out of the two of us who is actually in a deeper hole genius?

Where do you get these accusations listed above? We are still working on permissions (images quota WTF?) and we are still working on the website and about EIGHT different software programs that have to do with vbulletin.

We just got the photo gallery up today as well as the portal and are about to bring those on line for everyone else to see.

I just don't understand the DRAMA, you see I was around where members got ran off for acting like a drama queen. Grow the hell up and if you are still around great and if not fine great.

As for the ads..they dont bother me. Scroll past them. They are gun related. I dunno, I'm trying to make people happy here but if I cant do that for you, I'm sorry. Running a forum that was as huge as this and bringing it back to its old glory is alot of work.

Comparisons between this version of gunsnet and the old version are going to be made. It didnt work like this or that in the old version etc. I wasnt around then. I'm going by what you guys report and I make changes. With you guys help we can make this forum work more efficiently. *But...I dont ban or moderate people (even though I can). Not my job, I'm just a sys admin making sure the site/server runs smoothly*.

Hopefully you change your mind and stay. Post up in the above sections about your issues and lets see if we can get it working for you.

Back to the main subject.

We don't ask of our members unless if we feel it will help our community and if will help our communities well being, then it's a WIN-WIN situation.

We are asking that all members who can see the banners to please set a goal of 5, 10, 20, 50 whatever the number is in clicking the GOOGLE banners. Set a daily goal and if every member did this every day. I can assure you Guns Network could start recouping and hopefully start banking to help pay for our monthly overhead.

I am sure that since everyone is happy to have Guns Network back up, it would not be asking to CLICK GOOGLE banners into your normal routine when you are here.

In the end our community the clicking of the GOOGLE banners will benefit all of us and I will post some numbers for shits and grins just to see what happenes when everyone pitches it.

Set a daily goal and help us create a revenue stream.
