anyone into collecting ammo?

a friend got me into collecting ammo from different country's several months ago. what im doing is collecting one box with one loose round and keeping them by country and caliber.
right now i only have my 7.62x39 ammo cataloged and working on my other. i thought this was going to be a cheap way of keeping my collecting going because of how the economy is doing.
WRONG!!!
it's like crack
you get one type of round and you have to fill the open spots.some of these freaking rounds are expensive.
damn gun and ammo collecting is going to keep me in the poor house.

That does sound like it could get expensive Ranger Who, especially with ammo prices increasing the way they have. How do you keep the stuff cataloged, in a EXCEL spreadsheet?

yes
i was doing it under word but a IT guy at work converted it over for me to excel. it looks cleaner and is easier to see if i have it or not.
my main problem was where and how to store it. so i bought a bunch of plastic bullet containers and did it that way. so in box1 row 2 slot 7 would be chinese ATI round.
here is a picture of my 2rd box of 7.62x39 from a few months back.

so if anyone has any surplus ammo they want to trade please let me know

Better hope you NEVER knock a box over, or off the table.

I got addicted to collecting 7.62x54r ammo several years back.

I'm now over 70 rounds from 13 different countries and have slowed down a lot.
Now looking for the rare stuff, and it is rare indeed. Some are just a single round or a few examples, all the way up to having lots to shoot:LOL:

And yes, it is like crack!!! I now want to build a shadowbox to display but need to figure out how much extra space for growth.

Let me know when you get started, I'll be back in Idaho at the end of August and will be able to get my inventory completed.
Then, we can get together and see if there are any trades we can make.

I have a bunch of 7.62x39 that I've had for nearly 20 years. Do you reckon any of it is something you might be looking for? This is new to me so I don't know what you'd be looking for. Head stamp?

Okay, I looked at what I got and here it is;

The headstamp from one box has a "3" on top and a "95" on the bottom. I assume thats the date. It's in a box that says it's 123 grain ball, made in Russia.

Got another box which has rounds headstamped "351" on top and "93" on bottom. In a box marked "China Sports" and "7.62 x 39, 122 grain"

Both of these are the green steel casings.

I have another box with nickle casings. Markings are "7.62 x 39 00" on bottom. On top it has some kind of symbol, kind of looks like a tear drop in a square . . . not sure what it is.

You should contact me or come by my house. I probably still have some loose 7.62x54R rounds in some of my work bench drawers.
