Late Nov-early Dec last year I found this already d&t Swede m38. After a little sleuthing to figure out exactly which mounts were needed and mounting a Bushnell Banner 2.5x scope, I wound up with this:

It fits into my recent fascination with post-war sporters...

Please tell me you didn't drill and tap that rifle!

Nope, it was already done when I got to it...

In that case I can say it looks like a mini 41B sniper. Have you shot it yet, if so what group sizes are you getting?

I haven't had any range time in a couple of months...:(

I hadn't thought about the M41 look. I was trying to get the look of a sporter from the mid to late 50s. Something where someone might have gone into a store, picked this out of the barrel of $12.50 surplus rifles I've always heard about, had the store 'smith or maybe the old local gun crank the buyer had known for years d&t it and mount the glass. Maybe the buyer was on a tight budget, maybe it was to be the first "real" rifle for a young hunter. Who knows?

There's some fine tuning and clean up to be done but that's the lion's share of the project right there.
