From what I've read they won't be shipping until March. The lastest issue of Guns & Ammo has an article about them.

I'm really interested in this one. It's also offered in all black.

Called my guy yesterday and had him put this one on back order for me.

He quoted me $1129.00 but I figure I can get if for $1100 cash. Lowest I've seen it priced was $1080.00 and I'm not sure that price is firm since they won't ship until March. If it gets here and I decide to buy it I'll post a review. My last 1911A1 was a Colt Series 80 GM I bought in 1984. My buddy had an FFL and ordered it for me ($380.00). Still have it but figured it was time it had some company even if it's not another Colt.

Update:

From what I've read on the various boards, tomorrow is the day the new E Series is to officially start shipping from the factory. Hoping I get the call that mine is in sometime next week but of course I have no way of knowing how many S&W will ship of each model or to which distributor.

The bobtail has been getting the majority of the comments so I'm guessing orders will be heavier for it then some of the others. Hopefully S&W has taken this into account and built a bunch.

Still hasn't made it to my dealer yet so I won't know for awhile.

What ammo are you going to break it in with.

Probably just Winchester White box.

Not a bad choice Richard. You didn't have to say just either. It is very accurate ammo.
