Looking for help. I have a 1967 and 2 1968 Colt National Match 45 pistols, a 1968 Colt Commercial and a Government 70 series MKIV. All of them are still in original boxes and never have been fired and in excellent condition. Can anyone tell me the best resouurce to find out the value of these 1911's. I see some digest's out there just not sure the best resource for these pistols. Thanks :dizzy::dizzy:

wags2161, start looking at the popular firearm auction websites to see what similar pistols are selling for. This should give you a good idea of real world value. It sounds like you have some very desirable 1911 pistols.

There not worth much, I'll be generous and give you $100 for the lot of them.

You should be able to get a nice sum for those.

thanks for the input. I just wasn't sure if there was a particular Digest that has extensive information on Colt 45 pistols. Im also looking to further my collection I just would like to know what certain markings etc on pistols stand for. A 100 bucks four the lot seems fair though

Thanks Steve. i do alot of business on Gunbroker.com but like I said I might want to purchase more Colts since I have been a huge 1911 fan since I was in the Marine Corps. I went to their armorer schools and just cant get enough of them. As far as the value I was hoping there was a particular digest that grades the pistols and gives alot of info on them and can assist me in finding oout certain things about certain firearms..Armorers markings etc. Hard sometimes to get a good solid value on Gunbroker since if there is a certain pistol that two people with alot of cash want the price can get crazy. There was a 60's National Match BOX ONLY on Ebay and it went for over 350 bucks. Thanks forany info you can provide. I ended up buying 9 AK kits in the last month. Having three built. Thinking of selling them and buying another Colt..

You might want to pick up the latest copy of the Blue Book of Gun values, in case you decide to not take up NAPOTS on his generous offer ;)...

I am a big fan of 1911's too. Do you think you could post some pictures of those beauties. I'd imagine a NIB that vintage is pretty hard to come by.

Easiest way I found, as was suggested to me, is to open an account with photobucket.com. Download your pics there and then link to them from here. Not nearly as complicated as it sounds.
