Not familiar with their current quality. Back around 1994 when Clinton was firing up his ban I got a pair of 30 round Thermold mags. They have been reliable over the years.

I would say that the Magpul P-Mag is probably a ton better. I don't know of any active duty US military personnel using Thermold mags, but I do know of several, that are Gunsnet people deployed in active combat that use P-Mags. They have nothing bad to say about a P-Mag and they do use them in combat. My 2 cents.

Some of the old school 30 round Thermold's had an extension... 15 rounds.

I was told that it really wasn't meant to be 45 round mag, but rather you left the mag fully loaded with 30 rounds, then when ready for use, you compressed the extension to put the extra tension back on the spring... this was to save wear and tear on the spring supposedly.

For the mag collectors, I even saw a bright orange thermold training mag once... I get the orange part, but don't understand why it took liver rounds unless perhaps it was for blanks only? I didn't get that close a look it though.
