Are all 147gr 9mm (9x19) loads considered subsonic?

I would expect them all to be yes. Even at +P they shouldn't be anywhere near 1100.

Out of a pistol length barrel, they should stay subsonic.

Yes by and large they would be even in an Uzi.

1129.3...3 at 70F and at sea level.
770 mph X 5280 feet per mile = 4,065,600 ft. per hour. Divided by 60 = 767760 feet per minute, divided by 60 = 1129.3333 feet per second.

The exception. It must be loaded extremely hot!

Huh- I bet that would hit more than 1300 FPS out of my sub 2000. Nice.

My ammo gives me 1020 fps out of a Browning but it's the most accurate of all the 9 MM. My 110 and 124 stuff is practice ammo and the 147 is for serious, velocity be damned. Getting a hit counts for more than the little bullet going real fast in my dinosaur philosophy. Must be why I am a 1911 45 caliber ACP fan. You take the Ferrari, I'll take the Big Mack truck.

Gotta figure varience - 30 fps would be normal in many loads. :) I just say 1100 fps to stay "good".

FWIW, I could never get my Trident 9 suppressor to cycle my G17 until I tried some ammo from "Alabama Ammo" and the specific 147gr is called "Special K".

Is 770mph a constant or does it vary with altitude/ barometric pressure/ temp?

Everything varies with altitude, barometric pressure and temp.

Hot nerd assistants aside, mythbusters kinda sucks. They don't seem very scientific.

I roll my own for use with the suppressor and believe it's under 1000fps.

I have a hard time with 147gr bullets going supersonic, but I am shooting at anywhere between 4500 feet and 10,000 feet above sea level. The problem is even worse in the summer when it is HOT.
