Why buy the complete rifle? You pay the excise tax on the whole thing that way - which is built into the price of the rifle.

You can purchase the complete rifle kit and a nice lower like a Stag and get the same carbines for $600 and $650.

I've assembled three del-ton rifle kits on Stag lowers and they are all three excellent guns shooting 1" groups at 100 yards with SS109 ammo.

What he said... But my rifle is built on a Superior Arms lower. Excellent rifle. Compared mine to a friend's Bushmaster, the quality of mine wins hands down.

I just used Stag as an example - and yes, I think they're good - but other's are also good. Fit is very good on all three of mine.

ETA: here's the last one that I put together:

Frankly, I would not get either. I do not believe that an H-bar has any place on a carbine unless it is a precision build. You are adding weight for no real benefit. Also, given the lever effect of the rifle, the heavier barrel will "feel" even heaver, and will not handle as well. If a carbine is what you are seeking, get a light, or at least an M4 profile barrel. If you want a precision rig, get a RRA, like the one below.

It may not look look like it with all that stuff on there, but there is a noticeable weight difference between the M4 and the Recce.
