What's your favorite wood to use for BBQing. I don't mean grilling. I don't mean smoking. I mean BBQing!

Myself, for pork, I like oak and apple for pork. Oak and mesquite for brisket.

You already answered the question. I agree with you.
I had an apple tree come down a couple years ago in a wind storm.
I sawed it up and saved the wood exactly for this purpose.

I lived in the Santa Maria, California area a few years while at VAFB and got used to using OAK bark for everything ( Especially ribs ) when we cooked meat!! Place up there called Jockos was an excellent restaurant also.

My mom has apple trees. One year, two blew down, so I got to try that on pork ribs. Another thing about apple wood is I can buy it for $150 for two cords. MUCH cheaper than regular pine firewood at over $250 a cord.

I never tried pecan to BBQ or grill. It's not regularly available around these parts. Hickory is good too. I'll tell you what, when I go to Texas, I'll see if I can bring some applewood for you to try.

I've used pecan, apple, cherry and hickory. Pecan is the one I like most.

Apple because there are a lot of orchards around here where I can get the trimmings for free and oak because I have 12 acres of oak trees and some of them are on the ground for the taking.

Hickory is great for beef. Never tried pecan for anything that is interesting.
