Hi,
:survivor:
I have a 7.62x39 czech made bullet marked bxn 74, it has a grey coated case and a fmj bullet head, the odd thing about it is it has a printed code on the case side that reads MA 7.62x39. Is there anyone who could shed some light on this as I have not seen this before.

Regards

Burrowsatwill

:welcome: to the board! I don't have an aswer for you but there is a member here that is into collecting 7.62x39 (Whos2kno) and I'll PM him and ask him to come answer this for you.

Stick around and post some more - I bet you have an AK or an SKS that you shoot that stuff out of.... :)

BXN would indicate manufacture by Sellier & Bellot and "74" is probably 1974 as the date of manufacture. I found a reference to an MN marking that indicates a "reduced load". Are you sure it's MA? As noted, a photo would help.

I recently signed up on this site so I am new to this so please let me know if this is the wrong place to be asking but I have some questions about head-stamps and info on some 7.62x39 ammo I recently bought. I bought a total of 606 rounds which has 4 mixtures of different head-stamps. i have 351 over 91, 31 over 80, 04 over 65 and 61 over 67. Can anyone give me any info about them? I have found the manufactures of each one but didn't know anything else because of the dates and didn't know if things have changes since. Thanks for any info you have and if this isn't the right place please direct me there.

in most cases the number on top is the country it came from and the bottom number is the year.
i can give u the countrys you listed
351/91 made in china in 1991
31/80 made in china in 1980
04/65 made in e-germany on 1965
61/67 made in china in 1967
if u do a google search on ammo codes and find a site called international ammunition association they have a link to every ammo code known (i would post a link but im at work now and using my cell phone to post)if u have any more question please post or ask

Sorry, I should have stated I had that info, just wondering if any was steel ball core or whatever its called, I know best way to fight out myself quick and easy, just cut the vullet and check but didn't know if certian years from that country was or wasn't "steel ball core?" . certian sites say yes and others argue that statment. if any, I would think 351, 31 and 61 with those years marked on them. Thanks for your help, it shows I was searching on the right track. What about price per round? do they really go for .50 cents?

My bet that the 31 04 61 is steel core 50/50 on the 351
