Looks like Polish wood on the gas tube and Romanian on the rest and a Romanian bayonet. That $3,950 is a lot for that ak variant.

I get pissed when I see all the extras on the Maadi. I purchased one new in 1986 for $800 and all the dealer gave me was the 30 rnd mag and sling. But this was before the Internet. Otherwise, I won't know. The dealer moved to Florida decades ago.

:wow:

I bought a MAADI back in 03 for $300 out the door.
I put some Ironwood laminate furniture on it and a year later sold it to a buddy for $500.

This guy is in Dreamland.

Pre-ban Maadis are hard to come by, but this is ridiculous!

Hey 'Nut, how many of those came in?

I've seen IMI Galils, Valmet M60s & M62s go in that range but that seems double for a preban Maadi...

I have heard numbers from 500 to 1500 for the Steyr imports, but I doubt anyone has an actual number. My guess is closer to the 1500 number. Still very few at a time when AKs were not really appreciated, and the Maadi was at the high end of the price range.

Not trying to get off topic too much, but even today there are many that don't appreciate AKs.
I have owned many, many different makes of guns, and the AK stands out for me.
Simple, crude to a certain extent, and if it's built correctly, it'll go bang 1st time, every time.
You can't ask for better, IMHO.

There were only 2000 imported. Mine is S0010XX. It remains the most inaccurate I have ever owned.

Maadi's ( even the nicer styer imports) are the most over rated peices of #%$@ imported into the USA. They make most WASR's look like platinum plated Ho's in comparison. (Thank you for your honesty BTW.)

The main excuse is that inlfated "price" is the U.S.S.R. set up the factory. True. After the Soviets left, the Arabski -Egyptian's took over....Sadat kicked out any remaining Soviet Advisors, and the 80's untill today Egypt took over.

BLATT SUKA ! (as the ruskies say) KUS EMEQ! ( as the Arabs would say)
