I'll get it started with, this my first (born) er..build.
It is a Romy RPK, it is built on a Coldsteel blank, W/Tapco FCG & gas piston, & a US made birdcage muzzle brake (not sure of the mfg).
http://i48.tinypic.com/21nk4z5.jpg
It is not the greatest but it is the first.

And my latest, a Bulgy AK74
http://i46.tinypic.com/10zmnh5.jpg
http://i47.tinypic.com/35hqsrt.jpg
These are old pictures it has a set of K-Var plumb furniture on it now.
I will post newer pics. as soon as I can get some taken.
If I don't wear it out first, it is a lot of fun to shoot! :wild-mg:

Need you ask? AZ built the AMD w/2 interchangable barrels. A 9mm and 7.62x25 I believe. It's the set I'd give my left And right nut for.
Beautiful workmanship. I had a pic of it on my other computer that crashed in Feb. Grrrr.

My FAL build. Gone now, but not forgotten.
I participated in this build, can't remember exactly what part I played. It as many yrs. ago.

Schuetzeman installed and timed the barrel on a IMBEL upper. He also did the camo paint. I think he was the one who gave it the nickname, "Spooky". Salbo played a part also.
I assembled the rest.

I have not posted in over a year, and think this might be my first since its back up.. I kinda ran into a Jeep build that sucked all my AK money away. However these are my first 2 builds. Or should I say attempts at builds.

One is from a flat receiver that someone folded for me. Second is the NoDac spud.
The flat I used rivets and with the spud I wanted a "Frankenrifle" It was Halloween lats year when I started it. so I used hardened bolts. I am having some issues with Frankenrifle so it will have to be redone soon. It wants to act like a single shot.
Enough rambling

straight as a arrow! but there is a lot of duracoat on the rails that needs to wear off so the bolt dont always come forward all the way it gets stopped 1/2-3/4 the way back but a little push and she closes .

It wasn't as hard as you imagined, was it?
After the paint wears on the rails and if the carrier still won't go to battery,
polish the hammer in the area where the carrier rides. I found this helps the cycling.

Yes and no,
it was actually kinda difficult . Back in another lifetime I was a motorcycle mechanic and I did some custom work after that I was a fabricator @ HUB fabricating. My problem was that I am super anal about everything I do, but with aks that's not the way to go. For example I would never have used a 24oz hammer on these stubborn parts a its just not in my train of thought to beat on it like a madman but some times that's what you need to do ..

If you're using a G2 FCG, the hammer hump is less than a imported one.
I knock off that hump some and then polish it glass smooth.
The carrier rides over it like it's not there. Really smooth cycling.

The carrier going forward hangs on that hump and can stop the carrier or slow it down considerably, especially if charging the first round by hand..

I know this gun is getting a little beat up, it is my best shooter and goes to the range with me every time I go. It has over 4K rounds through it now almost all corrosive mil-surp ammo. I do a heavy cleaning on it every time I shoot it to keep the corrosive ammo from doing any damage.
Let me know which one you like best.

I like both, however I would suggest adding a real com-bloc scope rail and getting a Kobra or PSOP cause an AK just don't look right with a Tasco.

I had gathered the parts to build a 63 clone from a Romy kit. I like that look. Now I'm not sure that it'll get built. It took me too long to get started and came up with other plans for the last 3 or 4 kits that I have left... At least I have the parts if I change my mind again LOL...

AMD 65... built on an Ohio Ordinance receiver. My first AMD65 build was FUGLY! I bought the air-hammer rivet attachment from JoeKen and an air hammer from walmart. It functioned, but was ugly as sin.

So I built a second one... a screw build. I don't remember who, but a member here was gracious enough to allow me to send them my trunions and they drilled/tapped them for me.

Then a buddy of mine sandblasted and painted it this custom olive brown color. She's sporting Tapco Internals, Tapco Gas Piston and in order to use the Red Bake Lite grips, I have a designated mag that has a US follower and floor plate on it (I keep a one of those big blue wide rubber bands you see on broccoli at the grocery store on the mag for easy identification).

She also likes to "bump" :)

Two words on AK Builds..... "BLOODY KNUCKLES". Is it just me, or anybody who has ever built an AK up onto a receiver must have experienced this too... right?

And this is my last project, not a build per say, but a conversion.... Saiga 12:

I did an AMD-65 for my first. I bought the kit years ago when they were cheap. My 922 compliance is NDS receiver, G2 FCG, Tapco gas piston and AK-Builder muzzle brake. The brake also avoided SBR issues. I had a gunsmith blind pin it. I put an MPK2 side rail on.

It fed 150 rounds fine but the wire stock was a bit much. I didn't like the chin weld. I got an extension from AMD65 Tech and did a paracord wrap on it. I added a butt pad just for an extra inch of length.

This upper has a 18" BD 1x8 twist SS air gauged 5.56 chambered barrel, it has M4 feed ramps, mid gas system, with a mid length free float Tube, M4 flat top upper, 3 prong flash hider, tactical latch charging handle.
The lower is the Plum Crazy complete composite lower, I just thought I would give it a try for only $119.99 I couldn't pass it up.
I only have about 200rds through it so far & it is a good shootin' gun so far.

I have replaced the selector lever with the correct one and sent the trigger assy out to Bill Springfield for one of his very nice, H&K trigger jobs. It shoots very nice. Had to order in some spare mags... The MP5 40's and the MP510mm's have a bolt hold open set-up that works pretty well. A needed improvement. Now to build an MP5SD.

Just glad to finally find a home where I can share ideas and receive constructive criticism when needed without an identical response throughout the forum. Recently fell into smithing as a hobby after years of mechanical/machine work, always having a passion for weapons gave me the idea to get started. This may come across as cheesy but finding a place with like minded individuals is not as easy as one might think in today's world. Before this turns into a wall of text I will leave you with my first mod(s) *WASR 10*

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a219/__BLAH___/akconceptdigi-1.jpg
The top portion of the forend will be folded forward while being seated in the channel of the gas tube (closest to the receiver) after pulling the gas block retainer forward you will be able to tilt the entire forend and gas tube forward then by sliding the gas tube backward it will be removed from the forend thus leaving the rails to retain zero at all times.

Hope you like it.

It's all out of spare parts, it is 7.62 but I was trying to get it to look like a 5.45 I saw in a picture. It has a real light trigger so it will bump even with a drum mag on it.

OK I havent been surfing much here since `07. Didnt realize the site went down for a while either. I bought a load of the Romanian kits with the donkey dick fore grips. when they were cheap. Built all of the bending and rivet fixtures myself out of surplus and scrap materials. My goal was to not spend money on anything I could make myself. Bought the flats before top rails came bent. I did buy compliance kits. Dug up some old patents on parkerizing and mixed the solution with locally available chemicals. No dry cell batteries for donor mix. My goal was to have a small arsenal of identical rifles like military spec that each would have exact same characteristics. Just in case of a zombie apocalypse or shtf, they would be my security blanket. And I do like to hoard certian things that interest me. These are nothing fancy, just built back up to stock specs. No unicorns for me. I did let these sit a very long time in the parkerizing solution and really built up a thick layer thats very uniform. Actually thick enough to sand down and polish to a nice satin finish, if I wanted to put that much effort in a beauty queen. Like I said, nothing fancy just a few of the ones I have on hand. Solid reliable and wont let me down. I could bury these for 20 years and not worry about them firing just like new, if there was a need for them sometime in the future. I really enjoyed building all of these up, and learned a bunch about making everything fit and work properly. I also found out that these parts are hand fitted to each gun and not easily interchangable between them without some major filing. I really got lucky with these. Of all the parts kits I bought only a couple had been actually fired. Most still had the paper strip still in the barrel and n signs of anything but handling over the last 30 + years. A lot of these I parkerized just the receiver assemblies since finish was still perfect.

I recieved this ak in a trade. It is a CAI romanian wasr 10/63, and is in such good shape that I could not turn it down. I am new to AK's so this is my first build and am not done yet. So far I have installed the following items. A tapco G2 dual hook trigger upgrade. An ATI stikeforce collapsible, sidefolding stock ( I am not sure yet if I like it and might go with a magpul instead). An ATI strikeforce grip ( which I love) . A tapco birdcage flash hider. It came with the picatenny dust cover which I am going to replace with an OE dustcover and a sidemount picatenny rail. future upgrades will be an ATI strikeforce forearm and a holographic reflex sight. I am not sure what brand yet but I like the compact sights, and maybe some type of duracoat finish. If any one has any suggestions or advice, leave a comment.

No, any firearm is appropriate.
I've been on an AK binge.

It has been a while since I have done a build, but after seeing this lower I knew a new build was in the works.
This is my MAG Tactical (Magnesium alloy) lower AR build.

As you see it has a Palmetto Armory lower kit (-FCG) & a Cmmg 2 stage FCG in the MAG Tac ultra light weight lower.

It was an easy build except for the 1/2 hour search for a detent pin that I thought I had lost, found it stuck in some thick oil in the bottom of the kit bag.

Here it is with the JSE Surplus 18" mid gas upper with a Barska 8-32x50 Varmit scope.
Yes it is the upper off of my coyote gun, I put it on just to try it out. I'll be building a light weight upper to go on it as soon as the parts supply starts to level out.

Very cool AR.
I like the free float barrel.
I'm in the process of building a Colt M16A1 retro.

Cannot find a 20" pencil barrel to save my life right now.
I guess just wait it out.

Ok guys here is some more eye candy. It is a SB15 pistol, that is a AR pistol with the Sig arm brace.
It is on a PSE blem lower & a 7 1/2 .223 pistol upper, FAB Defense magwell grip, red dot sight, the Sig arm brace & a single point sling.

It is a blast to shoot in more ways than one, you can actually feel the blast wave roll up your arm when you pull the trigger. It is fairly accurate too, here is a 3 shot group target from about 75 yds away.
