I recently bought an Ed Brown thumb safety and mainspring housing and a Pachmayr grip safety for my Springfield Mil-Spec. The MSH went in perfectly. The grip safety required a bit of filing to reduce the width, but works perfectly. The thumb safety....here is the challenge. Let me first say that I am a complete 1911 n00b. I did as much internet research as I could, and I installed the new one with the grip safety removed to observe the relationship between the safety strut and sear. I filed lightly until it fit and functioned. Here is the thing. It does not "click" positively when engaged. It works properly, but no click. It does click when disengaging. I am not sure what to "fit" to achieve the proper engagement. Am I over my head here? Any 1911 smiths care to help out?

you can try to file/cut back a little metal were the plunger goes. I've done this to my Taurus.
