I'm getting things together for my next project and need a tap and die for an AR-15 upper so I can make a custom barrel nut. Does anyone know the specs and possibly were I can get the correct tap and die?

Thanks

Oh, just in case there is a difference, this is a Model 1 Sales upper/kit.

if you are making both pieces yourself, why not just single point cut them? exact diam and pitch wouldnt be so critical, as long as they matched.

No, I'm just needing a custom barrel nut. This peace will have threads for the overtube to screw on to. I was inspired by the ARIES design from Shooter's Depot.

You'll need 1.25"-18 tpi. Brownells has what you need.

Well, the upper is VERY tight at the front where it touches the lower, so you gotta press hard to push the rear down to fit in the rear takedown pin.

may need some sanding or shaving before I show it off.

Maybe L1A1Rocker can help me with this since I only have one operable arm for the next month or two.
