A local shop has one in mint condition (model 1300) for $150, I think it's an older model since the VR barrel (28 inch) is a fixed choke and not one with the screw in tubes.

About the only thing that gives me pause if the 28 inch VR barrel since I'd much prefer a 18-20 inch slug or home defense barrel (smooth bore). In a quick search I can't find a Winchester 1300 barrel I do like for under $200, does anyone have a source for cheaper barrels, if so I might pick it up tomorrow...

The Winchesters are great guns, and I like how the pump will release a little after a shot - resulting in a faster pump, but replacement self defense barrels are soooooooo expensive!

I like the 18 inch with the rifle sights...

WOW! Those prices are great!!!!

I've owned a couple of Winchester shotguns and either sold or traded them off. I saw a Ranger for about $100 bills at a pawn shop a while back, and didn't buy it because of wanting an 18" barrel!

Now... LOL

I've seen vent ribs cut down before. So why not just have a gunsmith saw it off for you?

I don't know where to get cheap barrels. But, I wouldn't buy the gun at that price, if you want a different barrel. I only paid $200 for my model 1300 with the 18" barrel. I like it a lot.

I picked it up, I also got a spare Sears model 200 barrel that I cut down to 18 inches (solved the barrel issue). Here it is along with my 18.5 inch Mossberg 500. The Mossberg has the black stock, the Winchester has the wood stock.

Maybe I'll sell the 30 inch barrel I got with it (didn't realize it was 30 inches till I got home and measured it) to recoup some of the original purchase price (I'll never use it).
