Happy Fat Tuesday to you as well. Be careful of biting into the cake, every time I hear of King Cake I always wonder how many people swallow the trinket or break a tooth biting into it...

I'm fat 7 days a week. Not just on Tuesdays. I'm relatively happy on most of them as well. I guess I don't know what fat Tuesday is. I know it has something to do with Mardi Gras but that's about it. It sounds like a frat house term...

I think it's a religious thing (or maybe more likely because of a religious event), if I remember right it's the feast you do before lent.

A couple of weeks ago was the first time I had ever heard of it. Somebody brought one to work. It's basically a GIANT cinnamon roll with different colored icing. That's exactly what it tasted like at least.

If I'm right it should have a trinket baked in it that one person is suppose to find.

French Catholics.... actually.

And the "trinket" is a baby. The symbol of the baby Jesus. This is a Lenten festival after all. And they no longer bake them into the cake but rather include them in a little plastic bag for the purchaser to place them in the cake if desired (liability issue don't you know). The cake is in a round shape and has the three colors of Mardi Gras (green, purple and gold). It is called "King Cake" after the three Kings in the New Testament.

The colors represent justice, faith and power = purple, green and gold.

Ayeeee!
