I've had a penchant for post-war sporterized mil-surps for the past couple of years. After playing around with a handful, trying to get a couple built, etc, I'm two steps closer to wrapping that part of the collection up:

The top rifle is a Smith-Corona 03A3, still in .30-06, the bottom is a Swede m38. Before anyone gets bent out of shape, the 03A3 was already done when I got it and the Swede was already d&t.:bigsmilebounce:

One thing that drew me to the SC was the scope and mounts. It's a Weaver V8 and is externally adjusted by the Weaver mount:

Sighted them in Saturday afternoon and despite a 20+mph wind from my back they were fine with commercial fodder (1.5"@100yds under those conditions) and I'm really looking forward to working up loads for them.

Between these two, the .257 Roberts Kar88 and the 7x57 Swede Mauser project that's getting started I'll be set and can move on to working on another part of the collection! :lool:

Oh the horror of the late 50's and 1960's when people took perfect milsurplus and sporterized them. Well I guess on a positive note they will still be used and cherished. So I take it that you also have a 6.5 Swedish that's been rebarreled to 7x57 Mauser. I have to say I don't know why anybody would do that considering the 6.5 x 55 and the 7x57 are so close in power as to be nearly identical. Much effort was exterted by somebody for very little payback.
