Benny Hill was great. The ultimate dirty old man. I have never heard my Dad laugh so hard as his did when he was watching Benny Hill.

"I have a lovely red pencil box."

His humor was one of the very few types of British humor that made sense to the American public. 99% of all British humor isn't the slightest bit funny. Benny was the 1% that was!

Benny was "Hill-arious."

Hell, I thought you were talking about the gun smith in Corpus. But the Benny Hill you were talking about is one GREAT comedian. I remember staying up late in my teens to watch his program. Very funny guy!

I can't remember the network that aired Benny... but often times I'd watch back to back episodes of Benny and Mr. Bean... good times :)

I think he had already died when his show aired here. I know he was dead in the mid 80's. Shame, he was a very funny man!

Damn, I didn't know that.

It's duped over in a foreign language, but it's definitely Benny hill that gives the music box dancer to the evil king in chitti chitti bang bang.

If you hadn't posted this I was going to. I was about 17 when I realized that Benny Hill was the Toy Maker.

The sad truth is that with the exception of Sue Upton, they are all dead.

There was another Brit or Aussie show that aired about the same time about a womens prison called "Prisoner: Cellblock H". Anybody remember that?

I've heard of the show, but never seen it.

As to your sig-line, Harry was the last good democrat to hold the presidency in my mind. I once read where he was chosen to be FDR's running mate b/c the powerful dems thought that he could easily be controlled due to the fact he didn't have a college degree. Harry quickly showed that he had a mind of his own. Also, he was the only member of the infamous KC, KS "Pendergast machine" that never got caught doing anything illegal. According to my dad, who grew up in KC and had relatives working for the "machine," Harry was a straight shooter.

Gotta appreciate him for giving Jane Leeves her start

A fake Mancunian accent, an uptight Seattle psychiatrist and a dog named Eddie is what it took to help transform Jane Leeves from a one-time Benny Hill girl into one of the most successful British actresses on U.S. TV.
