Home food dehydrating

Real quick question. How long does home dehydrated foods (done with a dehydrating unit that's readily available) last? I had read somewhere that they last about a year or so. Is that true or do they usually last longer?

With the different food caching options out there I'm researching the viability of growing extra in the garden over the next couple years and dehydrating the extra instead of giving it away.

Any thoughts?

It should last as long as dried pasta.
