I acquired a Winchester 1897, date of Manufacture is 1906. 30" barrel. for $250

Wood is very nice , action is very tight no slop and timing on pump/hammer drop is perfect.

It's soaking in PB blaster right now to get some of the screws loose.

all the blueing is gone

Ordered a blued shroud w/bayo lug from Numrich today.
Scrounging for a Bayo/sling.

Planning on completely breaking this gun down and reblueing.

Going to be using reduced loads in this . More than likely RTS ammo.

PICS once I clean the PB off tomorrow .

This is 100 times better than the Marlin 1898 Widow Maker I got......

That thing is gonne ba a wall hanger, Bolt face has a crack in it that I just noticed when I gave it a PB bath.
Oh well.. $125 for a piece of History or sell it to somebody I don't like.. :dammit:

I just paid .

$120 Shipped for mine.

Sarco has em cheaper BUT we gotta pay PA sales tax on em now. SO it's the same.

BTW....

IF you're gonna buy something from numrich.
Call em M-F during business hours .
Get the shipping code
Knocks a nice amount off of shipping... BUT you gotta call day you're gonna buy.
Code changes daily.

I wish some one other than China made a trench gun replica.

I had 2 IAC 1897's that wore out less than 100 rounds of low pressure trap loads.

This gun + shroud and my time blueing will still be less than a Chino clone.

Nothing but brown.

COld bluing and within an hour the blue turns brown.

Still better than no finish.

Just gotta figure out a way to make the new shroud look like that.
