For you MAS shooters: http://www.fivesevenammo.com/shop/page4.html

I have a case coming to me. Not cheap but better than handloading with expensive brass...

I found a second MAS 49-56 in a pawn shop north of Bellingham WA when I was there. $250 and in perfect shape... I almost bought it, but was low on current mad money...

My problem is a lot of the commercial ammo has in the past been underpowered and will not cycle the action. I got tired of the arm and just left it in the safe....

That's why I'm pumped about this stuff -it's MAS produced milsurp. If this doesn't cycle the action, nothing will. Well, maybe my robust handloads ;)

After the third range trip with the third type/batch of ammo... I gave up.

I like it well enough, but I have other projects and haven't been much of a French collector. Besides AK varients and com-block snipers I have mostly roller locks.

Thought I'd post a couple of pics of this ammo - very clean, nice stuff. Looks like 1964 production:

Does it shoot??

I'll find out this weekend :sniper:

Going to take the 49/56 and the Stevens 338-06 to the range and see how they both shoot.

Yep - and sorry I forgot to post the results... It functioned 100% - shot to the same point of aim as my handloads and gave me about 4" ish groups. I need to go back and do some more accuracy testing.

Ran some wet (water patches) through initially of course and flushed the gas tube too - to get the salts out...

And the bore on the gun is still dirty as shit - I'm soaking it with Hoppes to see if I can get more off - so far the center of the grooves is clean but the corners are still black...

It really does remind me of the Turk mausers that I bought many moons ago...
