Will a 84S .223 mag fit in a BWK 92?

The BWK-92 is a Norinco 84S that got the full George Bush the First full sanitizing. At least he left the mags the same.

Thanks fellas for the response.

I do have a BWK 92 but it only came with a 5 round and 2 15 round mags.

It doesn't look right with those 15 round mags and need a 30 round mag.

If I remember correctly you can take the follower our of that 15 round mag and with a little dremel work, allow it to accept 20 rounds.

I have to agree though that any AK variant looks just wrong with anything less than a 30 round mag.

The smaller mags are very useful for the bench though. I have a couple for that reason

Probably not withoue a little dremmel work. There's usually something that's just a little off for a perfect fit. Usually the tab that locks into the mag release lever is a hair too thick or long from what i've seen.Pretty much the only plug and play 223 ak mags for a bwk are the chinese ones. There are lots that can be made to fit though with a minimal effort. Most chinese rifle parts unfortunately don't match the specs of any other ak models from different countries.

If you look real close at the mag catch tab you can see the slight difference on this one. The one you posted is probably for a saiga i'll bet.

Allways take the rifle with you if you go mag shopping at a gunshow or shop. Learn from my experience ;)

Was able to get a hold of a 84S mag.

Unfortunately, it won't completely. The mag release just won't click.

Any suggestion or advice where I can file to get this thing to fit?

Is there a rivet in the area where the rear mag tang locks in? If so, remove that rivet.

Can you dumb that down for me?

I'm an AK newbie and don't know all the AK terminology.

On some of the Chinese AKs, they put a rivet in the bottom of the receiver, directly above the mag release to force you to use special, ATF and william jefferson clinton approved 10 round mags. Those mags had a slot in the rear tang to allow the mag to slide over the rivet.

Holding the rifle upside down, move the mag release lever fully forward, allowing you to see under it. There should be a nice flat piece of receiver under it. If there is a rivet, remove that rivet. All it does is make gun-haters feel good by "knowing" that you cannot install an unmodified mag. Of course those of us who believe in "shall not be infringed" know that we can remove that rivet and be able to use standard 30 round mags.

Don't feel bad about not knowing about AKs, we all were new to it at one time!

I cannot find no rivets.

Should I just file the mag down until it fits?

Yes those mag's will work without any alteration in the BWK-92
I have 2 of them and have no problems at all with fit or feeding...
