What is your weapon of choice?

I keep a Plainfield M-1 carbine at the side with a make-shift rack.

A Glock 19 within arms length, and 4 feet away in the corner, my mossberg 590.

For the record, the Plainfield M1 Carbine is considered by many to be the best of post war production Carbines, due to their high content of original USGI parts. In fact, early ones were often 100% USGI. I'd buy one.

Must not have known you can mount any bayonet that fits an AR-15/M-16.

I've never thought having a weapon in the open while I sleep was a good idea. In some cases a bad guy can sneak in and use it against you.
I always sleep with my weapon (gun, lol) to the right of me under the covers.
The other weapon sleeps in the living room between the front and back door.

In Las Vegas, a Ruger P89, I don't want rounds flyin' 'round the neighborhood!

It's been proven that a 223 round is less likely to pass though a house than a 45 acp, or 12 Ga. w/ buckshot.
The 223 fragments into harmless pieces after passing through 2 sheet rock interior walls. Never exited the exterior wall.
The other 2 rounds exited the exterior wall. I'm sure a 9mm would fair the same.

Dan Wesson 357 mag loaded with 38 spcl at bedside. Good enough from my bed to my bedroom door. Once on my feet Its a choice between Winchester or Mossberg, semi or pump, 12 or 20 gauge, both filled with 6 rounds of #4 shot. Longest possible shot in my house is 24' and at that range I'm talking less than 4" spread with the 12, about 2 1/2" with the 20. Both have sights on them not just a bead. Both get used often in drills at HD distances so I know both are functioning and I'm fresh with either gun. Don't mess with my family, it makes me grumpy or as my old navy chief use to say, I am hostile. I don't think he liked me much.

Flash light with my revolver but separate, I have this thing about illuminating my shooting hand, call me old fashioned. Enough night time illumination in my house I dont really need it if I am on my feet and if the lights have been cut off point still goes to the man who knows the lay out of his house vs some sneaky snot nosed boogerman.

bedside? well that depends on which way i roll out. :biggrina:

the nightstand has a CZ-82 in it and one step leads me to a Stoeger 12g coach gun.

if i roll the other way there is a wall rack with an .06, a Win Mdl 1300 12g and a WASR AK.

actually the wall rack stuff is intended for long, med and short range coyote work but i suppose they would do good on two legged critters as well.

The way I fart and snore in my sleep, anyone stupid enough to break into my home will be found on the floor bleeding from both ears and/or nostrils and gasping for breath.

But just in case they're wearing hearing protection and have no sense of smell, I have a Ruger SP101 .357 with CT next to me. While they're ducking or dying, I'll walk over to my double-barrel coach 12 gauge, G34 w/laser + light, and SKS. If there's anyone left standing, the local police can do cleanup while I smoke a cigar in my safe-room; if they can get into the safe-room (I refuse to call it a "panic room" since I'll be relatively calm - I hope:joker:), I have 100 rounds of .38+P, ten 17 round mags for the G34, 100 rounds of 12 gauge and 500+ rounds of AK on stripper clips. My REAL gun room is downstairs, because I don't want my second floor to sag or crash to the first floor :smileyeatingchoc:

No one in my area keeps their lights on after 10pm.
So if you did stop by, it would be pretty dark, with about 50 half-cut trees all around me that may fall on you.
Plus you will have to get by the IR system.
It would be better if you called before you stopped by so I could light the way for ya.

He reasoned that if a home invasion occurred, you more than likely be somewhere in the house where you would be far from a weapon. He even had a shottie above the door in the bathroom. (Good place to get caught with your pants down. LOL)

He reasoned that if a home invasion occurred, you more than likely be somewhere in the house where you would be far from a weapon. He even had a shottie above the door in the bathroom. (Good place to get caught with your pants down. LOL)

If you think about it, makes perfect sense.

i forgot to mention in my previous post, but theres also a 1911 on the nightstand too. that one follows me from room to room as i move throughoout the house, which is pretty much just either kitchen or bathroom.

Plus scattering them around means you might keep some.

Some of us live in places where due to working and a lack of neighbors a thief would have the time to use a chisel and take breaks. LOL.

Or use a gas powered saw with a grit blade.

However, scattering them would be unsafe with kids or your kid's friends.

Children should be THE major factor in gun placement. Too many are killed each year for the lack of concern by the parents.
I taught my son from the day he could comprehend what I was telling him NOT to touch a gun, PERIOD. I actually took him out to show him what COULD happen if he played with firearms. The demonstration must have sunk in, he never laid a hand on a gun until I took him out and taught him the basics of proper firearm handling.

I keep one in the bathroom, too. I used sit on the toilet or in the shower and think "What if my door got kicked in right now..." Sure as hell wouldn't want to be found that way.

I want to get a Glock just for this reason

Yeah, I could use one in the bathroom.
I'll have to start on that AK pistol build soon.

I did the same with my own and my grandson. As we provided child care for him there is almost three decades without an issue. However, others feel differently.

I like to keep the whole home defense thing simple. I sleep with a Mossberg 500 8 shot right next to the bed loaded with 2 3/4 00 buckshot loaded when I'm home, and when I'm away for work I keep my Sistema Colt .45acp on my nightstand.:gunman:

So guys here have several guns around their bed.
I see one, two if the second if for the spouse.
The one in the bathroom has some points, but the setup would have to be well designed.
I couldn't do the one in every room theme. My two little girls aren't ready for that as of yet.

Glocks are the perfect bathroom gun, tennifer coating and polymer frame.

If you have two bathrooms, just keep the gun in the BR off of the main bedroom and out of the kids'/guest bathroom.

If you only have one bathroom, maybe you should carry it in and out.

I tend to sleep downstairs on my living room couch. I have an 18.5" Mossberg 500 that resides along the top of my couch.

Nearby on top of the bookshelf is my "house rifle"
Usually it has a 10 rounder in it in order to fit on the top of the 6 1/2 foot high shelf without being to visible, but I keep a couple 30s on the shelf below.

Well, the only ones that are really bedside are my witness .40 and my girlfriends Iver Johnson cadet .22lr (hers since she was knee high to a grasshopper). Although, only two steps from my side of the bed, i have a nice choice of what to grab. Right now my 3 most likely candidates are the m70ab1, mossberg 500a (technically it's a newhaven 600a), and the H&R ultra .22wmr. Kinda depends on the kind of noise that I'm investigating as far as which one gets grabbed (if any).

Mossberg 500 with a top folder.
Kahr CW45 next to it.
Milady has a taurus .38 in the night stand (the only pistol she shoots...)

Trick question. I actually take my Kahr with me from room to room. It goes with me everywhere, EVERYWHERE.

Glock 19, 3 mags hornady critical defense, USP 45 T in closet nearby with the others, I live in an apartment complex now with lots of Majorities, (seeing that white law abiding citizens are the minority now) I find 9mm to be fine for this. When I lived with my parents I had an accidental discharge with a 45 and that shit went through the whole house and into the roof, not good for apartments.

Must not have known you can mount any bayonet that fits an AR-15/M-16.

Here's a pic of my 590A1 w/ M7 Bayonet mounted:
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/avtomatj/mossberg1.jpg

My bedside gun is a Glock 23.

That looks bad-ass for sure... but for HOME defense it only makes a long, unwieldy shotgun even longer.

Remington 870 under the bed (my side) and a Sig P220 ON the night stand, CZ-52 IN the night stand. M4 NEXT to the night stand. Questions?

Yeah I have a question. How long does it take you to choose which one to use? :yeah:

If I owned any guns I'd probably have a compact .45 in the cupboard thingy on top of my nightstand. A .40 Kahr in the silver box on my dresser. Mossburg 20ga in the corner and assorted evil .22s, SKS', Mosins and such in the steal me gun cabinet in the bedroom, under the bed and in the walk-in closet. There would be a few in the spare room too, if I had any left that is. :D

I currently have a Kel-tek PF-9, an XD-45, and a Mossberg 590 that I can reach without leaving bed. Just depends on how many seconds I have to act and which way I'm facing.
