Latest Mosin find, got it just before GN came back.
Found this one at a Dunhams store. 94 bucks out the door. 36 Tula with a 46 and MO stamps. Mostly Izhevsk parts stamped to match. I wouldn't pay much premium for the MO, but at a regular price... had to grab it.
Check out the Russian stock shim.
The bore is awesome - one thing I like about these fresh refurbs - not like some of the older secondary market rifles that may have seen some corrosive ammo and not much care.
This particular Dunhams had a lot of 91/30's (all Century imports), more than half were in laminated stocks - all the laminates had EP'ed floor plates - just an observation.

What does the "MO" mean?

No one really knows, many claim some military/police type function. I have only paid extra for war dated MO's.

Nice looking rifle vit. But what is that MO stamp on top of the reciever? Well i see mriddick has replied. Still would like to know for sure.

Someone stamped it on there. Wish we could ask them what it stands for.

Thanks guys.
Here is some info on the MO stamp http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinMO.htm
Yet the dates stamped are from before the establishment of the "Ministerstvo Oborony". Maybe some day we will find out for sure.

She's a beauty, thats for sure. This is an aside and has nothing to do with your beauty. I purchased a MN 1895 1912 czarist crest rifle once and refurbed the entire rifle. It was the second MN I had ever purchased. The first being a M44 with the cruciform bayonette. I did not consult anyone and simply broke the rifle down, stripped the finish off the barrel, the stock, the bands and completely refurbished everything. I had a gunsmith refinish and headspace the bore and interior of the barrel. Well guys, I ruined it's collector value, but have a pretty 2007 refurb MN 1895 1912 "MO" stamped rifle. Looks great and now that I ruined its collector value, fires great too (all the 1895s, 91/30 are great and accurate rifles and will fire any and almost all ammo you stick in the magazine.) I have refinished some of the round receivered 91/30 rifles and they look great too. I love my Mosin Nagants and give each a good Russian name. One of the 'cossack' rifles I bought for $129.00, I named Ivan. My favorite is the other MN 1895 1912 "MO" stamped rifle I found at a show where the vendor had almost nothing but MNs. He had the revolvers all the way to the 91/59s and know their worth. My un-touched Mosin Nagant 1895 1912r is named "Katushka".

Looks like a good find one of these days I might get around to adding an MO marked one to my collection.
